That is great Curt. Love to hear stories like that. Those two pairs on the far right look great.
Not so sure how those fatties handle the ice and crud unless the waist is almost as narrow as your boot.

Yeah, I almost bought a pair yesterday just on principle. The ones on the right are their SL Carvers. The owner was planing wood cores for the 2013 model run while we talked skis. He sources the wood from northern Mich. Most of the ski materials are imported from Austria. Maximum production rate is 5 skis per day. The name came from their great uncle Shaggy who made skis in the Copper Country in the early 1900's.
I love these graphics.

snow 1.10.2011 001.jpg antique Rossignol woodies with Marker bindings... I don't know why I still have these...maybe because they were the last of the good woodies...
Jens, your last post shows these as replicas... these are the real deal from back in the day

Very cool. We had a pair of these in the downhill version that my father brought home from an army surplus warehouse. 225s as I recall. I think they had 3 or 4 grooves in the base. I must have been all of 120cm in height so these things were giant. Similar bindings.

I was lucky to get into the sport around 67, right at the beginning of the equipment revolution. My 1st (and only) wood skis were Northland with screw-in metal edges. Those screws would pop out and a piece of the edge would dig into the snow like a rudder!
Yep, and it's been revolutionatin' ever since. Equipment and technique have never been better. It just keeps going.

I am not really into old boots unless NOS Nordica Astrals or Jet Stix, but these are something else. You had to be a major league bunny!
