Oh gawd, don't get me started on boots. Here's a good read on the history of ski sidecut. http://www.skiinghistory.org/sidecut.html My friend George Tormey, Bode's coach, gave him those first pair of K2 Fours. A couple of years ago we were in the start tent over in NH and had a great talk with Bode about his ill running DP 935. He didn't feel it was making the 650hp that it used to. Jayzuz. The boy loves speed!

My current boots are the 150 flex Doberman plug boot; hand made by PJ Dewey ex US Team boot technician. Ralves won Kitzbuhel on PJ's boots. These are the stiffest friggin' boots out there but feel like bedroom slippers until you buckle them one click tighter at the top of the course. PJ really knows his stuff. It's an honor to have him do the work and he's right here. I actually put heat into them being the pussy that I am.

It always amazed me to see Lange boots molded into the various liveries of competitor's boots. A racer would have a particular sponsor but wanted the performance level that only Lange could produce, so, Lange's back room would supply any color boot necessary to pull off the ruse. Right down to the correct logos. Hah!

Have you heard of the Dodge carbon fiber boot?

Heuer and Longines did a lot of the timing equipment for ski racing over the years. Boy o' boy, I'd love to buy that ski pin for Heidi's collection! Waddya think?

Here's Killy in the day. Technically, by today's standards, he is still relevant. Equal angles on both skis and lower legs. He's looking down the course which sets him up for the next couple of gates and not the one he's at. His shoulders are squared up to where he needs to be in the next few gates too. The shoulder width stance adds stability in case he loses the outside edge and it allows him to get onto the new outside ski with a minimum of extra lateral movement, so it's very efficient. I'm just amazed what they could do on them old planks given the snow preparation of the time. He'd likely be a minute off a modern skier on the same course (on a 1.5 minute course), but the technique holds up. Cool as hell!

I have no Dynamic souvenirs - only memories

I can spot Killy from a 1/4 mile away .... literally! Even in that crappy quality Super 8 film I shot at Boyne, you can immediately spot him.

    Here's an awesome video of Killy free-skiing - pure 60s! :

Great footage! Heidi bought me a season pass for my birthday (xmas). I hope to be well enough sometime soon to get out on the Mountain... it's three minutes from my door to the lift. It's fuchs-ing torture I tell ya.

    Here's some cool vintage stuff.

I posed my 67 for this picture a couple of years ago with White Stars and Javelins.

Yes, really great stuff on this thread!

    Scott and Curt,
I can picture us up at the Mountain in the day skier's lunch room, late in the afternoon after a full day on the slpoes, with a beer in hand, watching vintage Warren Miller movies that are being shown on the wall.
