    '69 S SOLD at Gooding

Was anyone at the Gooding Auction when the '69 went on the block....Was it THAT good?

The site states it was sold at 121K...

Question, is that 121 with or without the consignment fee?

This was the car that Paul had at Auto Kennel and could not sell for $79,000.
    Chassis No. 119300093

    Amazing.

To answer your question; Yes, it was nice. Paul had it at the Lit show swap meet last year. It had a sunroof added to it and the interior changed. I always thought that the lack of originality is what held it back. If I recall it eventually sold for less that $60,000.

    Luke, I think so....

nice numbers to see, especially for a '69

    from the gooding site:

"The following prices are in US Dollars and include the buyer's premium of 10% and are rounded to the nearest dollar. Unsold lots are not shown. Gooding & Company is not responsible for typographical errors or omissions."

    ..............

What's more amazing is that it apparently sold for under $60k after that post.

So from $60k to $120k in a few months...? Quite the flip

    69S Sold at Gooding

Nothing stays the same forever. Speaking from my own experience, we are seeing a noticeble increase in business from a year ago. Tom Scott's 911S is an exceptionally well restored car. The fact that it had a sunroof welded onto it and a couple of other items that differed from the COA were discussed extensively when it was first offered for sale by Tom and then by Auto Kennel. Sure, the car didn't leave the factory in 1969 with a sunroof, but the workmanship and attention to detail throughout the car were done to a very high standard. Tom's cars have always placed very high at PCA concours events and local concours events. I know that Tom also has at least one Manhattan trophy to his credit. So, after having said all of the above, it appears that someone at Gooding saw the car and appreciated it for what it is; and paid accordingly. IMO it is to bad that Tom didn't hold onto the car longer.
