I wrote you last night after a note from a local friend, about my car. I didn't see the pictures until today. The dash top was leather. The seats were leather and fabric inserts. I still have the original material (i think). I didn't have the car that far in the air. I spent lots of time seting the car up in the mid- 70s. Read yesterdays message for much more info.

Raj - I spoke with one of the previous owners today who owned the car from about 1974 to 1983 and he confirmed your notion that it is an antenna switch. He said there was a becker mexico radio/cassett player in the car and the switch controlled the hirscman power antenna. He also filled in some of the other blanks and is sending me some information he still has on the car. I will post - when I receive it. He said he purchased the car through Grady Clay. Grady remembers the car and is looking for some photos of it from that period. A friend of his owned the car and he drove it for a couple of years. As I gather this information, I will post what I discover.
Thanks for your help. - Jim

I see another interesting detail......look at the map pockets. They are also leather covered. The standard factory leather interiors did not have this detail.....they were black vinyl. A local or dealer would not go to this extreme as the pockets would have to be dis-assembled. This looks like a factory special wish touch.

The welds joining the drop link tabs to the A-arms are puzzeling...they look crude, and not like production A-arms which by '72, and especially on an S, would be on the production arms, even if the car was a T without sway bars....my '69 912 has the tabs. The production welds were relatively tidy spot welds. Maybe the big blob weld is a "sport" reinforcement!

In 74 we ordered 2 Carreras with color to match full leather interiors . The dashtop and bottom, door panels, door pulls, and anything else that you could imagine was leather..Even the carpet was dyed to match. It had never happened before when we ordered full leather. It must have been a different code or special wishes.
