    Hi Jim,

Yeah, I'm with the other guys. Most likely the modifications were done very early on after delivery but not at the Factory. Will be interesting what the Kardex shows if you can get that information.

Very clean car, especially the rear fender wells. This car has been well cared for in it's life.

    factory parts

The adjustiable sway bars are 1973 factory RSR items. The welds look to good to be factory. The strut brace is aftermarket.

All - Thanks for the information and comments.
I spoke with Steve Weiner at Rennsport Systems in Portland Oregon over the weekend, who knows the car well and one of the previous owners from the mid 1970's. He also said that the car was originally owned by Jack Cook the then CEO & Pres. of PCNA and the flares, wheels, sway bars and interior were done at the special wishes department at Zuffenhausen. He did not know about the strut brace. It is my understanding from Steve that this owner was the third owner and he aquired the car from Jack Cook's secretary. So this information is third, fouth or fifth hand at this point. Does anyone else out there remember or know this car?

As far as I know the engine is a 2.4 S engine. The number on the case matches the number on the COA. Steve did not know specifically about the engine, but he always wanted to take a closer look because it seemed a bit quicker than a normal S

    Thanks - Jim

I am sorry - but forgot to mention that I bought the car last October and just have not spent much time sorting it out. It was sitting in a garage with dust, rodent nests, scratches, flat tires and general neglect. A previous owner told me about the car which I had known a little about and we got it out aired up the tires and took it home.

    Thanks - Jim

    Hi Jim,

Well I hope that I'm wrong and your investigations show your car was modified at the Factory. That would be very cool.

Does the CoA have a production date listed? Can you describe what we are seeing on the door panels? Specifically the tan color of the armrests and door pockets. Are they covered in tan leather or vinyl? Do you have any old photos of the car with it's previous owners? Thanks, this could be a fun project.

First thing I like to do when a car is a little faster than it should be is get under and count the fins to see if it has 90s. "Special wishes" would be race dept/werk 1. There should be some paperwork. Being a 72 with MY 73 wheels is suspect unless it stayed around Stuttgart for a while. Also the rivets are not what I would expect-then again I have never seen a strut bar put on a street car by the race dept. We did quite a few fender jobs during 73 and our welds were as good but the race style bars are another thing.

It's also got a '73 tranny boot and shift gate.
    Raj - I don't think it's for sale.
I don't buy that it was done at the factory. The ODDS of the work being done AFTER the fact are FAR FAR greater then somebody having the foresight to basically put together an RS before anybody else....

Here is something that I just dreamed up: Lets say you were a big shot at Porsche US and you wanted a RS when they came out and you know you couldn't import one. You would call up and get a 72 executive car that was just traded in for clean up and have the special wishes people fix it up. That would account for the dated wheels and 73 RS stuff. There wouldn't be any problem importing because it was listed as a 72S. Well I can dream.... More photos please..

This car rings a bell. I think I almost bought it in the late 80's or early 90's. I bet I still have pictures from the seller somewhere. Ad was in Hemmings and car from Wyoming, if memory serves. I remember the flares and that it was Cook's car.
