My son in law was the acting CHP sergeant at the accident. They determined these guys were having fun ripping around (exceeding the speed limit) on these rural roads as lots of us locals often do (awesome driving roads). There is very little traffic in this area and is a much safer place to go for spirited drives as compared to the actual Napa Valley. The guy in the '89 attempted to pass just as the '69 decided to make a left turn. His rear end was clipped which spun him out and into a tree. Really sad

I didn't know Jordan but reading some of his post history here it's clear how much of a love and passion he had for Porsche...going back to his Dad apparently having a 911s when he was a kid. He posted some great photos here and I could just see thru his posts and tone what a nice guy he was. Jordan was clearly from the camp of old Porsches need to be driven. He was just a few years older than myself and still very young.

I hope his family has found some small degree of relief over the passing of time and that the memories of Jordan continue to live on in their hearts.

That is exactly what I surmised happened. Jordan made a sudden, unexpected, and unwarranted left turn and his buddy had no place to go and no time to avoid the contact. Most of us have done the same thing under similar circumstances and have not thought a thing about it. This was a very sad, unfortunate, unlucky, tragedy.

    Regards

I didn't know Jordan. But I think it would be a great tribute for whoever bought the car to get as many pieces as possible back on other cars and on the road.

As the man is not here to defend himself I can't help but reply. Nowhere did The Chief state "sudden" or "unexpected" or "unwarranted". That may be what you want to read, but it isn't there. Yes the poor guy turned left, as he had every right to. And looking at the damage the guy that clipped his tail was doing a VERY "fair rate of knots" to say the least.

This is EXACTLY why i stopped doing group drives many years ago. Always one or two Nikki Lauda wannabe's.

Isn't that a nice double white line?

I was hoping for something a little more substantial and a little less gruesome.
Personally I try not to buy crashed cars that involved a fatality.

Anything we can do as a community for the family? And has a tribute been done here?

The photo of the intersection is eerie. Such a beautiful and serene setting.

The road to the left is "Pope Valley Cross Road" and marked with a prominent road sign that can be seen just before reaching the intersection. .Traveling south on Pope Valley Road(at a good clip) one reaches this intersection and sees "Pope Valley Cross Rd" and is led to believe that you should make the left at that intersection, when, in fact, Pope Valley Rd continues straight. I was traveling by myself the following day (not knowing about Jordan's accident) at that same spot and started to make the left turn and realized just in time that I needed to go straight. It is not a road that I regularly use but can easily see why a person would make a sudden left turn thinking the Pope Valley Rd goes to the left. I'm not pointing any fingers or making any judgements, actually, just the opposite. It was a very unfortunate accident. Jordan was a good friend and is deeply missed by all of us.
Yes Frank, it is a beautiful spot on a great, seldom traveled, back road but the signage can lead to confusion, IMHO.

No citations issued, no fingers pointed. It was just considered by the authorities a very unfortunate accident.

Whether on foot, bike or in a car, intersections are always an opportunity for something to go wrong.

I started a new Thread called "Jordan" but I'll post this link here, as well.
