    Eddy Merckx Motorola Team Bike

My brother made a very nice Craigslist score .....

This is a 1991 Motorola Team bike ridden in competition by Dag Otto Lauritzen. 90% of the original components are there (all Dura-Ace). He's having it verified by the factory in Belgium, but there's no doubt it is the real deal.

Ha! Good eye. I think he measured it at 55.5. Too big for me too, but I'd make it work if I had to!

    Way too small for me.

Craig really found a nice bike. So cool to see all those original components and decals still on the bike. Those photos showing Dag Otto are great too. Isn't that first photo a beautiful sight? The rider is down on the drops, his back is flat, all his weight on his outside pedal as he carves out this turn. Fantastic image.

Looks like the first photo is a different bike based on the painted drive side chain stay, but we can't see the same part in the last photo. The Paris-Roubaix bike has white cable housing like Craig's bike. I wonder if he can find out from the factory the number of frames they produced for Dag Otto.

I need to go for a ride.

    Hi Curt,
    Nice bike your brother found!
I just finished watching Dag Otto commenting todays stage at Tour de France He is a very nice guy. Let me know if you would like to contact him to verify the story behind this bike. No, I don´t know him, but he lives less than an hour from me.

    His brightest moment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw1Eh3BH-To

Radmund - thank you very much. That would be cool to see what he remembers of the bike. I'll ask my brother about it. -- Curt

thats a great pic of Roll (with hair) and the scowl....Don't know if you have been following the race much....2 days ago was a scary stage....40mph on one lane country roads 7 abreast....makes for NASCAR style bike racing...yikes....folks kept their cool a little better yesterday.

I'll tell ya, I've never seen anything like this. Did you see the French TV car that took out the 3 riders!? And then Chris Horner's wreck ... that kid didn't know what planet he was on after that one.
