Does anyone know how I can get paint code with VIN #

I am working on a 1970 911, and originally thought the car was Silver (code 925) But I have the original paint on the trunk, rockers and hood where the "new" white was sprayed over. The original color almost looks gold or Pewter. Maybe the Silver is just oxidized. I have the vin number of 9110100363. Is code 925 the only silver for this year? It looks like a "dirty" silver. If anyone can help or point me in the right direction please do so.
    thanks dewey

What does the paint badge say? The only way to get he paint color from the VIN is to call PCNA COA department and ask what the paint code for that VIN is. Or get the COA. The original silver can be a little off from what you expect. The change from 925 to 936 meant a reformulation. Silver paint was notorious in the early days.

EDIT 2022: I can now get paint code data along will full specifications (CoA-type of Report). Just email me.

I have seen several early silver cars get the "golden tint" you refer to. Typicaly in the trunk etc.

    +1

They sprayed 4 layers w "Metallic paint" + 3 layers w "Synthetic clear resine", but not as much resine in trunk and engine compartment area.

Thanks for the information, I think we are just going to stick with the correct code for that year, wich would be 925. Please correct me on this If I am incorrect. Dewey

I'm not certain as to the correct color number. The code on the car would have been 80. This may have translated to number 924 (which I have in my file) or 925 is also possible. This was a period of transition for silver. 1968 was 96024, 1969 was 67-81-9101-H / 77-94-0503 (although I've seen a few variations on that), 1970 & 1971 were code 80, then from 1972 it was 936. Up to 1968 the color # was 924 with codes 6206, 6851 & 96024. From 1969 through 1971 it is not certain, then from 1972 936 was both color # and code. It is possible that it transitioned from 924 through 925 into 936.
New factory supported info: 925 up to Sept 1, 1971, 936 from Sept 2, 1971; 1972 model year.

My the silver paint of my '72 has a slight gold tint in the engine compartment but none in the front trunk. I always just associated it with the heat in the engine compartment and oxidation of the paint. FWIW...
