1984 930 Gemballa at Irvine Cars & Coffee today....

I saw this car this morning. There were certainly some crazy body-kits in the 80's.

Not to MY taste, that's for sure. And I like '80's Porsches. Does that tan fender in the background belong to a Simca Aronde coupe?

Yes it's outrageous! But that was the whole point! The original in black looked sensational in the magazines - perhaps the camera angles used for the articles were clever. But I don't mind admitting that back then it looked stunning! Remember this was the Contach era.

I saw that thing it was outrageous and completely hideous. And yes, the few last iterations of the Countach also became a caricature of Gandini's fantastic original design - See beautiful periscopo compared to 5000QV nightmare ... The 80's were not a kind decade to automotive design.

I like the Countach. To me, it's "vintage" '80s. The movie Cannonball Run made that car into a bedroom poster.
The Gemballa Porsche, is just a bit freakish...

I agree the Countach is a cult classic. Perfect in design absolutely not but everything that was the 80s summed up in a car...
