Thanks for the update, Doug... it's neat to see 0236 freshly done, the interior is identical to my wife's car just like I was gonna do it! Had the 901 'box when I got it along with it's OG 905, ran well on rebuilt carbs, but the amount of chassis cancer was scary. Though bought on the cheap without PPI as a twin to my wife's T, the notion of sinking $70-80K into even a rare S Sportomatic wasn't in my budget at the time. Ahhh, 20/20 hindsight.

Interestingly, the car was imported in 1987 from Germany (still have a copy of the import papers and German title) to Pennsylvania which is where I found it. Sold it to a friend in NY who flipped it back to Yurrup. Pretty sure it was never in California. For posterity, and if the new owner finds this thread:

Unfortunately the COA is a BMP file so can't include it here.

    BaT Description:

This 1968 Porsche 911S Targa is a short-wheelbase example that was reportedly purchased new in Germany by a US serviceman, who later imported the car to the United States. The current owner acquired the car from the Beverly Hills Car Club in Southern California in September 2013 as a project with rusted floor panels, a missing windshield, incomplete wiring, poor paintwork, and other issues. The car was imported to Poland and a restoration was commissioned at Piotr Bem Restoration Garage. The bodywork was media-blasted, rust repair was performed, and the car was finished in its factory-delivered Light Ivory. The interior was refreshed with houndstooth and black upholstery over replacement gray carpeting, and the weatherstripping was replaced. The numbers-matching flat-six is paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and the powertrain as well as the carburetors have been rebuilt. Work was completed in April 2016, and approximately 1,500 kilometers (~1k miles) have since been added to the car. This 911S Targa is now offered on behalf of the owner in Austria with copies of the 2013 California title, sales documents, Polish importation documents, restoration photos, a Porsche certificate, and transferable Polish registration.

The car was refinished in its factory-delivered Light Ivory (6804) following disassembly, media blasting, and rust repair. Work was completed by April 2016 and included replacement and refurbishment of the brightwork and other exterior trim. Following the restoration, the Targa top, door seals, and windshield were resealed. Fog lights and amber corner markers are fitted, and the car was delivered new with tinted glass and a heated rear window. The paintwork and exterior trim are shown in detail in the gallery below, which contains many photographs that were taken in 2017 in the owner’s showroom. The car is said to have been stored at a classic car dealer since April 2018.

Silver and black 15″ x 5.5″ Fuchs wheels are mounted with 185/70 Blockley tires. The brakes were rebuilt, and restoration photos show that braking components have been refinished and re-The black interior has been refreshed and reupholstered with houndstooth-patterned seat inserts. The seller states that in late 2018 the ignition cylinder was replaced and the wiring harness was inspected and repaired to correct electrical issues. Coco Mats have been fitted over peppered gray carpeting, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is mounted in the dash plated.

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of six gauges that have been removed and cleaned. Instrumentation includes a 250-km/h speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. The five-digit odometer was reset during the restoration and is now said to show approximately 1,500 kilometers (~1k miles).

The Type 901/08 flat-six has been rebuilt and is said to displace 1,991 cubic centimeters, with induction handled via rebuilt Weber carburetors. A rebuilt five-speed manual transaxle has been fitted in place of the factory-delivered Sportomatic unit. The engine bay has been rewired along with the rest of the car. The engine-block stamping reads ☆4180110☆ and matches the number on the Porsche certificate.

A certificate from Porsche lists the delivery date, drive-train serial numbers, color scheme, and optional equipment. Hundreds of photos taken during the restoration process can be found within the folders, which show the car after media blasting, rust repair, and paintwork. Available images also depict components such as the carburetors and the gearbox being rebuilt.
