9113600266 early RS sold at auction today

An interesting story, that I certainly do not have all the facts to, but do know this so far.
Maybe someone can fill in the rest.

Seized by Feds, in the midst of a restoration , this GP White RS shell , and body work, was painted and ready to be reassembled. Matching numbers on motor and trans. It came up for auction and one of our clients went to bid on it.
Apparently the restoration shop, bid on and won it at 75k. Before you think "Whoa ! What a screaming deal !!!"
Well.. yes and no. Not all the parts were included in the sale- Interior, plastic gas tank, front struts, and glass were not there or part of the sale.
For sure its a deal for the person that has those pieces and won the bid. And there is no telling how much further the price would have gone if our client had a deeper pocket.

Will be interesting to hear what transpires. In pics , it looked like a fine job in progress.

It still sounds like a great deal if the engine and tranny were there.

    Well... Yes and no
Yes if the person buying it was for himself- great deal (as he said he had the rest of the parts that belonged to that car) .

No, if it was the person (thru the bidder) that used to own it till seized and auctioned. He could have been buying back his own car. So we don't know what the bottom line is, despite what we see on the surface

Interesting story Dave. Maybe someday down the road (no pun intended) we will know more of this story. Hope to see it too when it is done.

    Rick,

Correct, 0266 was Light Ivory with no 'Carrera' side lettering. It was delivered as a Touring model to France with electric windows and A/C along with corduroy inserts in standard seats. It will probably look nothing like that when restored.
