Thread: Light Yellow ST in Progress

  1. #311
The seat is mounted using John Gausden's ST brackets (ST-Classics.com) with Scheel sliders. You can see the original fiberglass bottom in one shot...which is how I wanted it left. I will pull the seat back out to repaint the sliders, but it's always nice to know everything fits.

Digital K: The camera is an old Sony Cyber-Shot which needs replacing with a more modern version, and it does seem to get a light spot when there is some external daylight entering an otherwise unlighted shot.

Jens: I agree with you, the roof light looks pretty much what Toad Hall Racing used. The seat not only looks right, it fits me well too, which some of these original race seats don't do because they are too narrow at the bottom rear.

Obrut: I am not going to make the light functional...it's just for the look. Thanks for the suggestion, but somehow putting LEDs on a 72 ST just doesn't fit the image I have for the car.

Thanks for the comment. The car is coming along...slowly. I finally got the second Scheel 300 seat back with the proper insert material. I decided to use it for the driver side since it is a little more comfortable..(wider rear end for my old butt). I really like these seats...they fit the car so well.

I will be taking the car back to John Esposito' shop this week for some touch up work on my 'goofs' and scratches while building. It always happens...dragging a tool across a threshhold, a drill that slips, or the hood prop swinging across a fender with a sharp point . John will make it 'all good' again.

Gib; Scott Johnson did a fine job on those 300s - the perfect seat for any 2,5L "ST." Please keep the photos coming.

Tom, as I recall from your 'Another Hotrod' thread, the Scheel 300s were the factory 'stock' seat in the 2.5 STs. I hadn't known that prior to your posting the details. Of course, many teams went with the Recaro ST seats, and both look right in these cars.

I was planning on leaving for North Hollywood this morning, but an unexpected 'bathroom bug' hit me last night, so I will head out tomorrow. I had the LY ST all loaded up ready to head out at dawn, and wouldn't you know it....it rained last night (not a common occurrence in the desert). I guess I will not be able to claim the car has never seen rain...

Had a great time at John's shop yesterday while picking up the car. His crew did a great job....more later with pics.

When I returned home I found one of the most exciting scenes for a project guy....2 big boxes on the front porch. Harvey's masterpieces had arrived on Friday! I will take more shots when the sun is not overhead, but here are 2. The boxing Harvey does is really almost a work of art....double boxed, wrapped in plastic, foam, separated by cardboard. Nothing could hurt these unless you threw them off the back of the UPS truck.

The wheels are 8+9x15s. Perfect for a 72 Light Yellow ST.
