I agree, San, the wheels are really artwork that could be displayed in a glass case. Here is a little more of a close up shot. 3 prong cap centers.

Clyde, the Viper Green is one of my favorites...o'course my taste includes a little red-trimmed yellow organic pattern spread all over the green...

This is Wheel porn. Both of your cars Clydes and yours agreat example of restoration and project management, and a labor o love.
The other car that always stands out besides you guys is the Sunoco recreation, wich i wonder who eventually bought it.

The initial drive train is pretty much ready to go in the car. The 915 is stock geared with mechanical speedo. The engine is a 2.7L with 40 Webers on tall manifolds built on a 67 aluminum case, 9.5+ CR J&E 90 mm pistons in Nikasil cylinders, with Solex cams. The exhaust is through SSIs feeding a factory muffler with twin outlets under the bumperettes. It puts out an estimated 225 hp. I decided to go back to the stock 72 air cleaner box rather than use the rain shields because of the dusty atmosphere here in AZ.

My long term plan is to build a 2.5L ST MFI engine with factory 86.7 Mahle P&Cs on a 7R case. Most of the components are in my shop except for the HB intake (..gulp...). But I know this 2.7L is a real hotrod engine because my brother ran it in his 914-6 for awhile and it was FAST! It should make for a fun beginning and trip to Treffen in Cambria next spring.

Only $4750 Euro for what looks to be a fabulous reproduction out of Switzerland from Marco Marinello at Eleven Parts.

    Clyde:

Those HBs on Eleven Parts look great, did you go with these for your 2.5L? Rothsport also offers a repro HB that looks good, don't know where they are sourced from or the price which is not shown on their website. It is easy to figure out how to spend a lot more money on one of these projects...just build a twin plug 2.5L HB injected engine.

Meanwhile, I trial fitted the muffler on the 2.7L engine. The filter house in this shot is the 70-71 style metal unit, which looks prettier since it has been powder coated.

Harvey's wheels are mounted and on the car....yea!

225/50 on 8x15 fronts (20 mm spacers), 245/50 on 9x15 rears (25 mm spacers) for those who want to know. Not period correct tires, but they will work very well on the road.

Bob, the front tires a newly purchased Toyo Proxes 4 and the rears are Dunlop Custom 8000s (NLA) I have had for awhile with 100 miles on them. The tread patterns are different of course, but I think they will work together ok. As you know, there are few choices for wider street 15" diameter tires, other than Michelin TBs which are very costly. Maybe down the road another vintage tire manufacturer will offer something more reasonable, but I won't hold my breath. We may just have to get used to the idea that a consumable tire costs almost as much as the wheel it is mounted on.

Some of you may have noticed the hood straps are missing. I need to reinstall them after the paint work at John's shop.

Mike, the only 911 Edy will ride in these days is the 964...and that one not very often.
