More pics, plus a link to an article in Top Gear with lots of photos.

The previous Spark 1:43 model is amazingly accurate in the historic details, and Marco tells me that Porsche has commissioned Spark to produce another run of these models.

Here are some shots taken by Jurgen Barth (or with his camera) showing Marco (trim guy) with Jurgen, and then another one with Manfred Rugen, who built the engine. There is a small TV behind the car showing the build details on a loop. Pretty neat stuff...
A link to another short online blurb about the effort to save this car...

Seeing all those photos in the press articles of #41 driving through a forest reminded me of some of the pics that Richard Truesdell took a couple of years ago along the California coast.

A friend asked me recently what I did while living in Alaska for 15 years. I bought my first 911 there, an 83 SC (shown on 5.5 mags with studded snow tires). But before the Porsche fever kicked in, I spent time each year doing things most guys in Alaska do... hunt, fish, ski, hike, build things (custom rifles), and unlike most guys, I also rode, trained, and bred horses there.
Here are a few pics from those days when I was a little younger (35 years or so).
Edit: Added a photo from Lake Illiamna on the Alaska peninsula where I fly fished and caught/released 25-30 inch rainbows. The caribou hunt was also near there. Also, a shot of how a guy relaxes after an early morning climbing for sheep.

The owner of the Toad Hall ST has sent me a 19 page copy of the documents registering the car for the '24 Heures Du Mans 1972'. Here are the first 2 pages showing the sign-off by 9 inspection officials on the car, and then a page with the sponsor (Meznarie), basic specs for the car (VIN, engine displacement & number). Later in the documents are shown the drivers, (Garant, Barth, Keyser), the weight (979 kg, 2154 lb), weight balance (381/598 kg, 39/61 %), and the names of various equipment suppliers...(Bosch, Cibie, Marelli).
These documents validate that the car shown at Essen was indeed the original 72 911 ST which ran in the 72 Le Mans event, and are a very interesting part of Porsche and Toad Hall Racing history. We should all be so lucky to have documents to verify the history of our car in an international event in the first 6 months of their existence.
