Jurgen is really a very fast driver in a car he hadn't driven in 46 years. He really hammered the loud petal, and hit the brakes so hard it felt like hitting a wall. The 'S' aluminum calipers performed flawlessly. I have a lot more respect for those calipers. The course had lots of switchback turns, and cones set up on the closed course road which made a guy really have to hang on. Jurgen's shifting was smooth and flawless...he can still drive for sure. The ride was about 10-12 minutes, but it seemed longer just being a 'sand bag'.

Oh man! Gib, you’re killing me, I so envy you that drive!
How close is you’re car to that masterpiece? We all know how hard you worked on yours.

. . . the restoration posed a real challenge for the Porsche Classic experts — especially when it comes to the bodywork. As soon as the car arrived at the workshop the experts discovered that not only had the 911 been converted to what was later dubbed the ‘G-model’, but it had also suffered accident damage, which had been bent back into shape unprofessionally. In addition to deformation in the tunnel as well as on the side rails, corrosion had done serious damage, in particular in the wheel housing panels, the tunnel and the roof. The roof, which had been deformed beyond repair, suggested that children had used the car as a welcome playmate for a considerable length of time, making the repairs to the bodywork particularly complex, which included the challenging conversion and reconstruction of the flared wing extensions, partly done by hand. The 911 2.5 S/T was given a new roof as well as new tank bottom . . .

    Great, Gib!

And Marco is certainly a true gentleman. Jürgen Barth is also really nice and I'm sure that the drive was epic. Congrats!!

Sorry, stupid friggin’ question. I was thinking about the subjective sensations via the seat of the pants. Stupid me I’ll crawl back under my rock.

Here are a couple more pics from the Vernasca event. Marco's car is so much fun to look at from every angle...it is very well done.
