Obviously this car is stunning , but shouldn’t the engine bay be body color ? Again, not being critical .... just trying to learn.

The engine bay should not have the stippled paint surface (like mine is)...should be smooth with no heavy paint. But the color issue is still being argued over by many experts. Here are pics of the 'Monte 72 STs built by the factory for rallying, both had black engine bays. There are several other 72 STs I have seen with black engine bays. In 73 some of the factory RSRs had black engine bays.

It came from Europe...can't remember the manufacturer, but yes, it does have a mesh lining in the exit tubes. It fits very nice in the proper place with the FG bumper...haven't started the engine yet to hear how it sounds.

Here is a link to the factory website showing the original ST with its new owner driving in beautiful mountain country.

What a great video of Marco Halters Toad Hall ST car. Incidentally, he also ended up with my 1957 oval window few moons ago. Great guy !

....Marco Halters ST is indeed a wonderful restoration but how I'd love to see it with an equally nice period steering wheel

Here is a picture...not a good one, but the muffler is manufactured in Germany. Hard to read the name...I should have taken a picture of it before installing the engine...hard to get a clear shot now.
