Thread: 72 ST Factory Look Build

  1. #11
Aren't you at least a little tempted to make it resemble your Uncle's car?

Not really. The factory 72ST picture is what I want. I've stared at that picture for hours. It was my Uncle who first showed me those factory pictures many years ago. And we both love that car.

Yep, that's Uncle Dave. Nice pic. Back to the car. The front pan had been replaced by an unskilled guy at some point. You can see from the picture they didn't use the reinforcement plates that get welded on top of the suspension pan. John will work his magic with the new parts from Porsche and make it right.

There was some rust in the passenger side door so John cut it out and made a new piece. This is not an easy repair but he makes it look as if it is. I had another door we could have used but I wanted to keep the original doors with the car.

Found some more rust! Damn Porsche window seals. This car had original paint on it and the front window seal wasn't changed for many years or if ever. So, once again John does his magic with metal. Dry wash your Porsche's (most of the time) if you're not already!

The front pan is back in place. The front drivers side apron needed some real help. John used metal from a donor car and made the pieces he needed himself to complete the job.
