Hey Candyce,
I use Brad Penn in the classic cars too. If you decide to use this oil in your 911 and can't find it locally let me know, the Northern IN distributor is here in La Porte.

Thanks for the advice and the help. I was able to purchase the Brad Penn oil locally.

Tomorrow, I am going to rotate the tires. I can't find the information about the pattern anywhere. I think the pattern is front to back. But, I thought I should check. The car is a 1973 911S with Michelin XWX tires. Thanks!

Candyce, normally the spare was included in the rotation scheme, but since i think you mentioned using an older tire for that we'll skip using that. Since your tires aren't directional you can just use an X pattern, that is R/F to L/R, L/R to R/F, and of course L/F to R/R , R/R to L/F. Rotation just isn't done much anymore since many tires are now directional and different sizes front to to rear.

Not to contradict Ed who is a real expert, but I was of the belief that radials should only stay on the same side since they tended to break in their sidewalls and take a "set" to one sides' loading.

Dave, you do bring up a theory that I've heard of, but frankly have never been 100% sure if it's fact or fiction. If any tire expert out there has some hard facts I'd love to hear them, because I'd like to know the facts for a certainty. I know over the years that I've not kept track of sides on my own or customer cars and am not aware of any created problems.

The only caution that I was given by manfacturers was to keep the same direction. When we rotate, we dismount and inspect the tire and wheel, then put the tire on the diagonal keeping the direction the same but changing inside to outside. (as long as it is not a assemtrical or sized different) Like Ed however, I have not heard of a problem with changing rotation. I'm just following recommeditions. BTW the only non Uniroyal (they all seperated!) Porsche tire that I have seen seperate is when a XAS was put on wrong (assemetrical) and it quickly came apart.
