You do not need to buy any parts for your horn. You have fixed the problem and it won't return for another 30 years or so. Speaking of tightening screws, you should snug up the screws that go through the seat hinges that hold the hinge to the seat backs. Those are often loose. Next take a look at the screws at the back of your doors that surround the door latch. There are 3 per door. Those will probably be loose, too. All this can be accomplished in a matter of minutes and will help preserve the car.

Thanks, Jim, for that information. The little tips really help me. I can check the screws and tighten them ... makes me feel like a "Porsche" mechanic.

    Wise Words

+ 3 on every one of Jim's wise words........

Those words made me laugh! Many times I say to myself, "Damn, where did that come from?"

The best one is when I registered for St. Charles in February 2010 and started the 911 in April.
    I don't know why I did that.

My life with the S just continues to unfold and makes me wonder what will happen next.

    Mileage

Ed, you always make me grin!

joegt3cup, I guess 60 is my new lucky number! Thanks for noticing that.

    Good question, Mike.

When the 911 competed at St. Charles, the mileage was 47,931. In the past five summers, the S was driven 12,069 miles. For me, that is a big number. The yearly info is put away, and I should get it out and write about it. As my confidence increases, Sepia is driven a bit more each year. I need to write about that, too.

Two weeks ago, the car was at a local bar cruise night. The 911 was parked next to a 1973 Hurst Oldsmobile in mint condition, black with gold striping with 13,000 miles. The owner and I always "discuss" driving our cars. Larry drives his car about 200 miles per year. What a shame! He is afraid that increased mileage will decrease the value of his car. That thought has never entered my mind.

Larry was astounded when I told him I drive the car most summer Sunday mornings south into "farm" country. He exclaimed, "You do!" You can drive forever without stopping, love listening to the sound of the engine. Before the weather changes, I need to take him for a ride.

It Has Been Way Too Long - Lowell, INl

The 911 is put away for the year, and I am looking back. It was just an ordinary summer for the S. Just drove it and mostly participated in some local car shows.

A friend said, "Take the car to Lowell" Never been there; but, why not? As I was driving in a bystander yelled, "Damn, look at that old Porsche!" Smiling, I waved, and parked the car. Soon, three men dressed in gold vests proudly displaying their Lion's service badges, were scurrying up to the car. The 911 was the first Porsche in seven years to come to the show. They were thrilled. Throughout the show, they would stop by, and check on me. The '73S created quite a buzz.

A young man showing a beloved brown Charger came by. I took his picture sitting in the S. A little while later, Mom and Grandma drove in from the farm to say thank you and chat.

The show was billed as a "Car Cruise." It truly was. Everyone brought their cars ... new, old, classic, muscle, trucks, tractors, rusted-out hulks ... it was all there. No rules ... just wash your car, and bring it to the show. It was a community event.

The most interesting car, to me, was a vintage MGB sedan owned by a woman. We had a lot to talk about.

These experiences with the 911 are pure gold ... priceless!

As I was driving home, I wondered: How many people have never seen a real, live, Porsche in person? Of course they have seen the models on TV, in the movies, and through print media.

That reminded me of the first time I spied the little brown car in 1973. Jim and I lived in the same apartment building and met at the mailbox. I remember seeing the car in the parking lot, parked far away from the other cars. I didn't know what it was, didn't know how to pronounce P-O-R-S-C-H-E, didn't know where it was from.

I did know it was a very nice car. And, it still is a very nice car. I show Sepia because the people are great.
