    Backyard Tent Find

    VIN: *307184S*
    Motor: 961040

It's 435AM and I just did a 22 hours marathon drive to check out this 1967 911S. Information is limited and vague, but seems this S has been off the road for many years.

The good news is that the engine is probably original. Please try and get the build # next to the type #.

Can't wait to hear the story after you buy it as to how you found it and its history.

Wow. Nice find! Would love to hear the story. One of these days I'll discover a barn car.

    Good luck with the purchase.

I think we need to live near more barns Edric!
Excellent score Jim. Can't wait to hear the details. '67S barn-find is definitely a "grail" find for me. Looks nice and fairly original too. No Gemballa flares to cut off

August 14, 2011 I was sitting at my PC and Goggling "1967 Porsche 911S for sale" and the internet version of Hemmings Motor News popped up. To my surprise there was a 1967S for sale in Thousand Oaks CA. I called the number and a gentleman answered, I said, "is the 1967S still for sale?" The owners name was Cony and he said, "Yes, it's still sitting here." I detected a faint accent and I asked him, "where are you originally from?" He said, "Sweden, but lived in the USA for 30 years." I told him you have an interesting name, my uncle's name was Cony." Long story short, he liked that and said, "you need to come out and look at this car, I'll make you a deal." Two days later I was in Thousand Oaks and really having no idea what I was about to buy or getting myself into I worked a deal out. All a gamble because I had no COA to verify numbers and at the time didn't know much about the 1967S. All I knew were the basics and the 1967 was the first year for the S and low production. Buying the 1967S at that time was pure timing and good luck.

I would rather be lucky than good.

Dang, it would have been right in my neighborhood. Not as close as that GT40 was though. I need to start talking to more neighbors!
