    '65 lemmerz wheels color

I have to re-paint a set of lemmerz for a '65. Can someone point me to the proper paint color/code
and where to buy the paint for the wheels. They have already been re-chromed.
    Thanks for the input/advise

If they have been chromed you just want the paint for the hub cap area correct?

May not be acceptable to all but I take oil based floor and trim paint, med gray and light gray, mix to match an original wheel core and sponge brush a light coat. The gray used by Perfect Custom Wheels (Bolton’s) is too light and I don’t have have my own spray set up .... and it’s covered by a hub cap

Here's a photo taken of a 65 911 wheel showing original color -- greenish gray. Next shot is the color now used by Perfect Custom Wheel/Bolton -- much darker and closer to original than what they had been using, but still not close. Don't think there's a ready-mix, near correct color available.

Here's a January 1968 wheel in daylight if that helps. I always understood the colour was a standard from Volkswagen, but cannot recall where I read that. It is a question I too would like answered as my wheels need to be re-chromed...
