    1967 911s Restoration Project

I am new to Esses and have enjoyed listening to the various opinions and discussions.

About to start a restoration on a numbers matching 67s sunroof coupe. I have partly disassembled the car so that I can have the body work repaired (areas of rust, a dent, replace the front bumper with original, doors may be more recent replacements etc.) I want to repaint it the original polo red.

I will need lots of advice as the project progresses. First question for the masses: who are reputable shops in the Philadelphia area I should talk to about assessing and restoring the body and understructure?

I will post a couple of pictures soon.

Welcome... post some pics so we can see what you have! 67S's are very special (they are my favorite!), very few came with a sunroof.

    cheers,

What a small world.....I live just 5 minutes outside of Harleysville and own a '67 911. There's a group of early 911 guys (+/-12) around the Philly area and we get together on a regular basis to drive our cars and trade war stories. You're more than welcome to join us.

Your 'S' sounds like a great project. This is the place to get all your questions answered.

Drop me a PM or email and maybe we can connect....I'd love to see your car.

Just saw a link to this thread from the regional forum.

As a fellow newbie and relatively close member, Welcome.

I am restoring a 1969 911E, and one of the places I would seriously concider for Rust Repair and body work is Bruce Baker Enterprises: http://www.bbakerent.com/index.php/Main_Page

I know he is primarily a 356 guy, but I know from speaking with him that he and his employees have done some fairly significant rust repair on 911's. I've always found him to be a very nice guy and someone with very high standards. If I don't tackle my rust repairs on my own, a task I've been putting off for a year, he would be on my short list of potential shops to do it. His shop is in Collegeville, PA so he's not all that far away from Harleysville.

Try Dale Erdman. He is the guy who did the original bodywork on Dr. Johnson's 356 convertible. He is finishing work on my 912 and just starting my 67 911s targa. Does all of Roy Shelton's 356's and produces great work. (610) 417-1524. Shop at 311 W. Liberty Street, Allentown, N.J.

I second slugwerks opinion. Bruce Baker is the place to go if you are looking for a quality job. If you are looking for a maaco quality job go to daledo erdman he is pure butcher. I know of both Baker and erdman and erdman's work cannot hold a candle to Bruce baker's work. You would be very dissatisfied using erdman unless you don't know or care what quality work is or looks like.
