Having problems getting the front fresh air frame ( on the outside) to seat nicely to the cowl area above the hood.
Was there originally a seal behind the frame?
At the moment I can see the screen mesh when viewed from above.

The only seal in that entire area is the light gray seal ( as shown in attached photo #1 ) that fits between the plastic airbox inlet plenum and the backside of cowl sheet metal. If that part group has not been moved or disassembled it won't be a factor.
Photo #2 shows the alum. mesh and the thin, quite fragile aluminum frame which fits on top of the mesh and the 4 screws that hold it all in place.
Did you bend and disfigure the frame during disassembly.
Do the screw holes in the frame and the mesh line up when they're off the car......are you using the same screws, frame & mesh that were in place before your present problem. Quite frankly, it's difficult to visualize how the frame and mesh wouldn't install and line up perfectly if nothing else has been moved / disturbed.

A photo would've helped explain it better. I'm just starting to put the car back together after a full restoration.
The anodizing was long gone, and had been painted with paint by the PO.
The mesh and frame line up, and I've got the original screws.
I turned my media blaster down when I cleaned it, and really took my time to ensure that I didn't bend it.
I powder coated it satin black here at home.
The frame is so delicate that I may have changed the profile. The cowl area, in the center anyway is original, and the entire car has only a very thin layer of filler.
Thanks for your help, I'll see if I can tweak it a little for a better fit.

Did anyone else have small spacers/felt pads/paper pads behind the screw locations? These little spacers really helped to keep the screen flush with the cowl.

Hi Tony,
I had the same problem. If you gently open up the radius of the frame it will seat flush with the cowl.

Thanks guys, I put a small washer behind the two center vertical mounts and my gap problem was fixed. A closer look at the parts diagrams and I can see that I missed that there is a small spacer that fits behind the two center mounts.
They app era to be NLA for future reference.
Thanks for the advise.
