    Introducing 9112101441 1972 911T and the Restoration Begins!

    Guys -

    A friend and I have begun the adventure of collecting and restoring (and driving!) some Porsches. First up is a 1972 911T we bought in California. Engine is not original but we still love the car. Great color, external oil fill, no rust, and plenty of gaps in the ownership history to track down. I will stay on the hunt for the original engine but until it is found we are droping in a 1973 2.4 motor.

    We are planning on having the car ready for the Pinehurst Concours in May which is in our neck of the woods. Here are some early photos. Any thoughts, advice, guidance you have will be appreciated. More to come...

    The car was apparently a Calif car all its life. I am still trying to uncover the previous owner and whatever history I can gather. It has steel flares that were so well done that we are wondering if they were done at the factory.
    Don Kravig at Precision Motion outside of Riverside is doing the restoration, Car had not run in 7 years, so we have pulled the engine (to swap) and are rebuilding the transmission. Lots of other work to be done to freshen her up as well.

    Some teardown photos

    Last week:

    Instruments going out to North Hollywood to get refurbished. Engine swap is underway. Transmission is out to get rebuilt. All glass coming out for new rubber. Tacky speakers and stereo removed. There was a small village of mice living in the engine bay so work will be needed on the wiring. All te rubber hoses will be replaced as well. Lot's more to do.

    As soon as I can figure out the engine number I will post in case its rightful owner is on the forum. Also, I will post the orginial engine number for this car in hopes of reuniting them.

    I'm waiting on the CoA from Porsche but the color (Aubergine) is apparrantly rare but original.

    Very nice. I would keep the flares, they seem to compliment the car. If aubergine then the code on the badge should be 025-x-y; what are the x & y? Black interior?
