    After Rennsport:

I have a few days after Rennsport to do some driving. I will end up in Phoenix to fly home on Oct 21st. One drive I am looking at is Yosemeti and Sequoia. Rt.108 to 395 down to Rt. 120 back through the mountains to Rt. 41 etc. to Sequoia assuming the roads will be open. Does anyone on the left coast have any experience with that area driving a low 911 hot rod with stiff suspension? Thanks.

Dana, are you driving out or shipping? You will drive some of that route if you are joining us.

    Hi Sott
I am shipping it. I pick it up in MRY Oct 11. and ship it home from Phoenix after Oct 21st. Tough decision but that gives me the most time to drive that part of the country with the time I have. Want to take full advantage so looking for input. Are you guys driving back? Maybe we could head out together before I peel off toward PHX

The northern Sonora Pass on Route 108 is well-maintained and pretty rural; lots of twisties. Tioga Pass on Route 120 is even better, as they straightened it out quite a bit for all the traffic into Yosemite. The rise from Mono Lake to Tuolumne Meadows up the Eastern Escarpment of the Sierra Nevada is spectacular, then passing Tenaya Lake and winding through the high granite beyond. Route 41 is also beautiful through Wawona, but pretty boring south of Oakhurst as you drop down into the great Central Valley. The byways into Sequoia N.P. are nice, but generally stay at lower elevations. Your route should be lovely this time of year and the passes should be free of snow.

Thanks so much Nine17! That is a great help. I'm really looking forward to that drive.

Dana, one is shipping a car home and two of us are storing until next spring. At least that is where it stands right now...
