    David,
    The first pic and the pic on the truck are an example of what a little elbow grease can do !
    Sand beige is one of the 911's least ordered yet nicest colours.Don't change it !
    This '68 is an example for you to aim at.
    I cant remember where I stole this pic from ...

    Thanks for the comments, advice and suggestions. I'm tracking with them all--cleaning it right, keeping the original paint and anything else that's salvagable, not disassembling more than needed for the task at hand, etc.

    Bringing a '69 911S Back to Life--Part III

    My first action was to again clean and polish the outside. It is amazing what a little elbow grease will do.



    Following a good wash, I attacked the inside. I removed the seats, seatbelts and carpets. Here are some shots as I remove the various layers--seats, carpets, pad, etc.


    Notice the basketweave interior panels I mentioned previously.









    I then removed the headliner and the asphalt-type padding on the floor. In an effort to document anything I did, I carefully photographed my efforts and kept sample of any of the material I removed. Here is one of the original plywood boards. I was hoping to salvage both this one and the one on the passenger side. But, the passenger side was completely delaminated and fell apart beyond repair. This one looked to be ok until I tried to remove it. The large large section on the bottom left came out in pieces due to rot and a little too much force. It also had that distinct mildew/mold smell. I decided to remove the hardware and opted to find new boards. If anyone has any OEM in good condition, I may be interested.

    It's hard to find a good used board, they'll be sort of like you already have! Stoddard (and others) sell new OEM style wooden boards. I'm anxious to see you bring this one back.

    Nice! never seen a sand beige in person but that shot of the 68 really pops! i know with these and vw busses the OG paint has a certain depth and sheen.I think the 69S is the gnarliest and wiriest of the breed.Subscribed! S
