BaT Description:

This 1965 Porsche 911 is a non-running project that retains its matching-numbers 1,991cc flat-six and 5-speed manual transmission. The car was originally delivered in Bali Blue with a Webasto heater, though it was repainted by a prior owner. Reported to have been stored indoors for at least 22 years by the previous owner, the car was acquired by the seller last month with the intention of performing a restoration. Significant corrosion has developed on the undercarriage and body panels, and the original carbs have been replaced with Webers. The car is sold with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean South Carolina title in the owner’s name. Finished in Bali Blue from the factory, the body was repainted red by a previous owner. Factory glass appears intact, and the car retains a complete set of chrome hubcaps. Bubbling can be seen along the rockers, above the rear bumper, on the deck lid, and elsewhere.

Interior trim, seats, rear seats, and door panels appear complete but have rotted from prolonged exposure to moisture. Modifications appear limited to an older aftermarket stereo and shift knob. Photos show the condition of the front and rear interior floors and the dash underside. The front compartment can be seen above and contains a Webasto auxiliary blower. The original 1,991cc flat-six is appears to be largely complete but has not been started for at least 22 years according to the seller. Weber carburetors have been installed in place of the original Solex units, though one carb is currently uninstalled. Engine #902196 can be seen and matches the number provided on the CoA. Transmission #101926. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the powertrain numbers, colors, and factory options.

The body has been restored from the chassis up and was repainted in her original Bahama Yellow. This restoration has left no part of the car being overlooked and the result is a 1966 Porsche 911 like new in the truest sense of this abused word. It is not an imported car but was delivered when new to Porsche Glöckler of Frankfurt on 10th October 1966. The whole rebuild is fully documented and supplied with invoices in the history file. A car that really must be seen.

Great, another car being sold as the next older model year. It's spreading.

Porsche made the distinction between 1965 and 1966 vague, but this is clearly an early '67 (aluminum dash and no slant 911 on the right rear).

Super late 65 (more $$ than 66; less valuable than earlier 65) and the car has some real challenges.
Not the least of which is hoarder's mildew and vermin feces odor embedded in the metal.

Still... very well bought.
