    Auction Description (Google Translation):

    - One of only 253 built deluxe RS coupes!
    - Since 1969 in Austria, since 1980 in the possession of the consignor!

They still exist, the big, unresolved riddles of this world, even in the most popular car, the Porsche 911. One is the 911 deluxe RS Coupé. Only 253 should have been built. On their Kardex "MODEL 1967 911 deluxe RS Ex. 13/66" is handwritten in red. Steve Heinrichs wants to have seen all 253 Kardex. Why model 1967, when all 1966 chassis wear numbers? And what does RS stand for? And what does Ex. 13/66 stand for?

It is certain that these are the last 253 coupes built in the 1966 model year, chassis numbers 304703 to 304955, built between May and June. The cars were equipped as 1966 models, had a wooden dashboard, auxiliary lights, parking heater and all the other features of this vintage. And yet Porsche calls them 1967 models. Was it perhaps a marketing gag to sell the last copies of the old vintage? This mystery is not completely solved yet.

The fact is, however, that we have here such a model in front of us: chassis 304779, delivered on June 7, 1966 to the Porsche Representation PoAC in Teaneck, New Jersey, there taken on October 31, 1966. Interestingly, the Kardex although the ominous designation off, but neither engine nor gearbox number. So much for matching numbers. The car was light ivory (6604 B) with an interior in black leatherette. He had the aforementioned Webasto parking heater, a left side mirror, Blaupunkt radio with speaker and antenna.

On January 24, 1967, a warranty order is still recorded, then the 911 appears only in 1969, in Burgenland, more precisely in Eisenstadt, where he was reviewed on September 8 and issued on December 10, the individual permit. One day before Christmas, his owner let the Porsche in southern Burgenland. A two-year transfer lock suggests that he has taken the car as a relocation property from the US. After expiration of this lock, the 911 changed hands for the first time. He did this again until he came in about 1980 in the possession of the consignor, at that time basic servant. The Porsche had already changed the color and he lacked his powertrain. His owner in turn lacked the money to prepare him to be the proud owner of a Porsche, had to suffice for the time being. In general, the good was already not too well in good shape, the Porsche, of course, not the owner. The profession and family came first, although there was a matching engine with gearbox in the meantime, but it moved a good 30 years into the country until the Porsche finally got his restoration. It was all the more thorough and the result can be more than impressive! The state is now back to history, because both white impress. As a rare bird of a not yet fully explored species, this 911 is more desirable anyway! until the Porsche finally got its restoration. CHASSIS : 300136

    PROVENANCE & SPECS :
Built 03/12/64 in Lausanne - Switzerland
Fully restored by Porsche specialist in France
    Kardex by Porsche

Owning a 1964’911 is kind of an unreachable dream for many early eleven enthusiasts. But also a reality for a very few number of owner including Alois Ruf, Magnus Walker, Jean Todt and some other well known Porsche collectors. The first public presentation of a 901 took place in the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 12th, 1963. Production of the 911 began in September 1964.

The first 46 received the 901 designation and the other 186 produced in 1964 were labeled as 911 as a settlement of a Peugeot claim. All bear a specific VIN number *300XXX. But not only the VIN number makes this first production year specific to the 911. Many details also differ if compared prototype 1964 and the 65 models, like window frames, engine bay frame, smooth rear cross etc..

300136 was built the 03 12 1964 in Rubinred and delivered to Lausanne-Switzerland by Amag the 22 01 1965. An engine change was documented early in his life. The car was kept within the same hands in France since 1982. His «secret» body number is well matching as is its gearbox (Nr 100 154-901) We have been very lucky to dig out a specific 64’ engine (manufactured in April 1964), which by an extraordinary coincidence is numbered *900136 and which has received a bolts and nuts restoration. We have not saved any effort to bring back this piece of history to its former glory. A fully documented restoration file, completed with more than 500 pictures and the Porsche Certificate will be joined with the car. This 911 from 1964 is a very rare opportunity to a serious Porsche collector to enter the exclusive community of the 70 Porsche 911 still alive from the first production batch. See the specific registry dedicated to the 1964’ Elevens http://www.vierenzestig.nl/1964-porsche-911-registry/ and the very complete research by Jürgen Lewandowski detailed in the book “Die wurzeln einer legende – Porsche 901” (The roots of a legend – Porsche 901).

It's probably not really 324 years old--that might be a typo.

Note that it has chromed switch bezels and a plastic knob on the trip odometer reset. Some very early brochures show that as well as rubber floor mats.

The engine bay looks mostly right although some very early cars might not have had the Buick throttle dashpot. Also, some very early cars had a slightly different air cleaner.

The steel-core steering wheel and the rubber gearshift boot are probably incorrect.

I can't be sure, but i think it has a black plastic ignition switch bezel, indicating a non-locking steering column. That would be odd for a car intended to stay in Europe.

Beginning in June of 1966, Porsche began to develop the exclusive 911 Deluxe RS examples that are rarely known of today, even by the most knowledgeable marque enthusiasts. Porsche utilized 253 previously completed wood-dash, Webasto-heater cars—chassis numbers 304703-304955—that had been removed from available sales inventory. Porsche then issued RS Ex. 13/66, the bulletin that instructed factory technicians of the changes to be made to the 253 cars that would create the new model to be offered: the 1967 Porsche 911 Deluxe RS.

The factory Kardex build sheet for Serial No. 304769 verifies this car as one of the 1967 Porsche 911 Deluxe RS models produced in European configuration, and it retains its matching-numbers engine, Engine No. 907962. The Ivory color combined with a Kunstil Schwartz Pepita interior and sunroof are all additionally verified on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity accompanying the car. The hand-written notes on the Kardex show this car was even singled out of from 253 cars for additional desired internal modifications.

The changes from its original configuration were for further factory use from July 19, 1966, through November 10, 1966. The modifications to this car included the transaxle gears being changed to the new 911S ratio. The original engine block received the S crankshaft and S rods, marked and pulled from the best weight-matched produced parts available from the top 5 percent of production. Model-year 1967 S piston and cylinders with the smaller second ring allowed for higher compression, while ‘67 S heads with larger ports and 1-mm larger valves, ‘67 S cams, forged rocker arms and the ‘67 S IDS Webers with the secondary accelerator pump included, which combined, resulted in nearly 200 HP with a high state of tune from the race-bred nature of Porsche's soul.

The body received enlarged rear wheel arches to test wider offset wheel-and-tire combinations, and it came with wheel spacers and extended studs for increasing the rear track. This was a common procedure with factory trial cars in the workshop, both prior to and continuing at this time, as development of the R model was soon to come and momentum was building toward the desired RS model's creation. With all of the modifications completed and 7,600 kilometers of testing run, the predecessor to the first Porsche RS was styled by these design changes.

The unique history associated with this chassis leaves a fine example thought to be one-of-one and very unique among the 911 Deluxe RS cars built. This car received a sympathetic and meticulous restoration by a respected marque specialist that cost $175,000. The numbers-matching engine was disassembled and deemed to be in excellent condition with only new bearings, piston rings and seals being replaced. Meanwhile, carburetors were rebuilt to proper specifications and the transmission reconditioned with new synchros, a clutch, pressure plate and flywheel replacement. The original interior, with the exception of the new headliner, has remained untouched and reflects the honesty and pristine condition of this car, including the original seats. The body is laser straight with uniform gaps and flawless paint application. The underside is detailed and the suspension was restored after being completely removed. This Porsche features the original 4-headlamp screw European light configuration restored to as-new and matches the four-corner European lens display.

This is an opportunity to own a first-generation RS, one that is an ultra-rare, highly optioned, historically significant and Kardex-documented car. This beauty achieved exceptional use in its first months of completion, and has today accumulated only 72,000 original kilometers. The sticker on the windshield reads “STUTTGART INSPECTED COMMUNITY,” and is original to the car.

    - Finished in its original Polo Red over black combination
    - Exceptionally original throughout
    - Best in Class – Post-war Preservation, Pebble Beach 2013
    - An automotive icon offered from an automotive icon

This exceptional and unrestored 911 was bought by its first owner Kenneth Fielding directly from Porsche in Germany and shipped to his home in Woodland, California. An early 1966 model, the car was completed on 22 September 1965 and delivered several weeks later on 5 October. Mr. Fielding’s 911 was finished in Polo Red (6602) over a black leatherette interior and optioned with a Webasto heater, tinted glass, antenna, loudspeaker, and one Talbot side-view mirror. After about 10 years and very few miles on the road, it was put away after a final outing to Monterey for the Porsche Parade in 1975.

The all-original 911 was later acquired by Richard and Allison Roeder and then Reed and Nan Harman of Los Angeles, California. The Harmans would go on to present their little jewel at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2013, where it was awarded Best in Class – Post-war Preservation.

The Porsche was subsequently donated to the Petersen Automotive Museum, for whose benefit it is being offered today. Exceptionally original and presented in its original livery of Polo Red over black leatherette, this charming early production 911 would make a spectacular addition to any collection, and for a worthy cause, no less.

This 1967 Porsche 911 Coupe was previously owned by a collector in Arizona before being purchased by the selling dealer in early 2018. An outlaw build was originally planned, but the seller has decided to focus resources on a different project. Power is provided by the matching-numbers 2.0-liter flat-six, which is mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle and has been fitted with Weber 40 IDA carburetors and a newer exhaust. The car has recently been serviced with new spark plugs and fluids, as well as a brake system inspection. This SWB coupe is currently located in Jacksonville, Florida and is now being offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, records from previous owners, and a clean Arizona title.

Originally finished in Irish Green (6606), the car was repainted white in the late 1990s by a previous owner. A few small blemishes are apparent in various areas, and some waviness can be seen along the sides of the car. Front and rear bumpers are devoid of any chrome and rubber trim, and the bumper overriders were removed from the front. The wide exterior sill trim associated with this model year has also been deleted. All of the trim pieces were removed by the seller and are included in the sale. Some minor pitting is evident on the optional 15″ ventilated chrome wheels and on some of the chrome trim pieces. The wheels are shod with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

Originally upholstered with black leatherette and Pepita cloth inserts, the seats have been recovered in black leather by a previous owner. 1967 was the final year for the factory green VDO gauges, which are reportedly functioning properly here. The Blaupunkt radio remains in place, and a blemish is present on the brushed aluminum glove box trim. The 5-digit odometer indicates 55,673 miles, approximately 700 of which were added by the seller.

The 2.0-liter flat-six is paired with a 5-speed Type 902/1 manual transaxle and equipped with Weber 40 IDA carburetors and newer exhaust components. Recent service performed in preparation for sale included replacing the distributor cap, spark plugs, and fluids, inspecting the brake system, and adjusting the fuel lines. The carburetors are said to need adjustment. Stamping 909430 matches the CoA, confirming the engine as original.

The seller notes that the car retains its original floor pans, and that an area of rust in the smuggler’s box is shown up-close in the provided photographs. An included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity displays the build date, serial numbers, original color combination, and optional equipment. A folder containing service records from previous owners also comes with the car.
