    Presented in a classic Ivory finish, this 1967 Porsche 911 is appointed with the uber-desirable low-back Recaro sport seats stitched with desirable red leather. Fitted with the iconic and period-correct Fuchs wheels, this short-wheelbase/long-hood coupe certainly checks all the right boxes for lovers of air-cooled Porsches. First introduced into the American market for 1967, this particular car mimics the 911S that represented a quantum leap in performance over the standard 911. The engine was heavily modified with an increased 9.8:1 compression ratio, forged aluminum pistons, higher lift-duration camshafts, increased valve overlap, larger intake and exhaust valves, low-restriction exhaust system and a Weber 40 IDA carburetion system producing a robust output of 180 HP. That power translates into 1.47 HP per 1 CI of displacement, a remarkable performance metric from a naturally aspirated engine from more than 50 years ago. The same thoroughness of engineering was also applied to the rest of the car. The 4-wheel disc-brake system was upgraded with vented rotors for increased heat dissipation, the suspension was equipped with both front and rear anti-roll bars, Koni shock absorbers were installed as standard issue on all four corners, and lightweight forged alloy wheels were fitted to reduce rotating mass. In what would go on to become a signature styling statement, the car featured a one-year-only 15x4.5-inch Fuchs wheels.

    Life-long Northern California and rust/accident-free Porsche. Mechanically the original owner has kept this 911 up to a high nic, always keeping it driving and handling down the road like a new car. Currently running Webers, a Solex carb system including air box, linkage, and fuel pump is included in the sale. The engine has just been rebuilt by 45 year Porsche specialist and new brakes, shocks and misc other work just completed as well. Receipts for transmission rebuild prior to a professional single stage Glasurit paint job way back in 2005. Upon completion of the paintwork, the body was reassembled with all new body seals and stored away/kept under cover in climate controlled storage until just recently. Floor pans, rockers, front trunk, and jamb metal is all original and rust free.

    This immaculate 2.0 SWB 911 had 1-owner from new until 2012. Paul and Helen Dickey purchased this 911 from Vasek Polak's Porsche dealer in Manhattan Beach, CA in September of 1965. This '65 SWB has an incredible amount of documentation from new. The Dickey's always made sure their 911 was in top order and serviced it from new until 1974 at Vasek Polak. In 1974, many of Polak's top mechanics founded themselves working for Andial which became Porsche Motorsport North America. By 1975, the Dickey's having enjoyed this 911 for ten years decided to keep the 911 in absolutely top condition by having commissioned a full refinishing of the 911. The paint alone costing over $3,000, almost half the cost of the 911 new! In 1975 this was quite expensive indeed. The quality is a true testament to the condition of the 911 today.

    In 2012, the Dickey family said goodbye to their beloved Porsche after 47 years. Its next custodian was Mr. B. Luke of New Jersey. Mr. Luke continued the immense record keeping and servicing tradition of this 911. After Mr. Luke's ownership, it was sold to a collection in North Carolina in 2014. At this time the 911 was thoroughly gone through and completely serviced by well-known Porsche restorers Road Scholars leaving no stone unturned. It was then sold to a well-known New York Porsche collector. In this collector ownership, it has been looked after in the same regard as its previous custodians.

    The body, paint, and interior are in excellent condition and it has been extremely well-maintained regardless of use. This alone is a testament to those Porsche enthusiasts who have owned it to date. This rare early SWB 911 is ready for immediate use, both touring and show circuit, and is an excellent opportunity to acquire a top example for the 911 enthusiast and collector alike. It is the first year of the 911 and will continue to hold a superb investment potential.

    Truly one of the best early SWB 911's in the world and not easily found in this condition. It is complete with keys, books, tools, jack, original 911 brochure and of course its truly, truly immense service history file.

    This 1968 Porsche 911 coupe was sold new in Pacific Palisades, California to a playwright and actor, and it was purchased by the seller five years ago following 25 years in storage. An extensive cosmetic and mechanical restoration was subsequently completed over the course of five years by the seller, a marque specialist who owned European Import Car Repair in Austin, Texas for 30 years before retiring. Refinished in its original color combination of Irish Green over black leatherette, the car is powered by its numbers-matching 2.0L flat-six, which was rebuilt along with the original 5-speed manual transaxle. The car has only been driven approximately 50 miles since completion of the restoration. This SWB 911 is now offered with restoration records totaling over $100k, photos from the build, a Kardex report, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a tool kit and jack, factory manuals, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

    The exterior was returned to its factory shade of Irish Green (6806) during the restoration, with the body disassembled, stripped to bare metal, and placed on a rotisserie for the work. Factory hardware was sent out for re-zincing after removal, and painted components were restored to their factory appearance. Factory 15” ventilated chrome wheels wear hubcaps featuring the Porsche crest, and Pirelli Cinturato tires were mounted during the restoration. Date code stamps reading 6/68 are shown on each wheel in the photo gallery below. Bumperettes and white fog lights are listed as factory equipment on the Kardex report and certificate from Porsche. Brightwork and chrome trim was re-plated during the restoration, and new seals and rubber trim were installed.

    The cabin was refinished with new black leatherette upholstery, as well as charcoal squareweave carpeting and brushed aluminum dash trim. Dynamat sound dampener was installed under the carpet, and a set of Coco mats protects the factory-style rubber floor mats at front and rear. VDO instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer and a central 8k-rpm tachometer. The 5-digit odometer shows 21k miles, and the 51 miles shown on the trip meter reflects mileage driven by the seller during testing following the restoration.

    The 2.0-liter 901/14 flat-six produced 130 horsepower when new and is paired with a 902/01 5-speed manual transaxle. The engine and transaxle were both rebuilt during the restoration, and ancillary components were rebuilt or replaced with Porsche parts, including a new-old-stock alternator. Consumable parts were replaced, as were hoses, lines, and clamps. An oil change and a valve adjustment were completed as break-in measures after 50 miles of test driving following the restoration, and a compression test yielded values of 140 to 145 psi on each cylinder with 3% leak down according to the seller. A stamp of engine number *3281393* matches the number listed on the CoA and Kardex, confirming originality. Transaxle stamping 3081045 and also matches the supporting documentation.

    The suspension, brake, and steering systems were overhauled during the restoration. The CoA lists the original component numbers, colors, and options, as does the Kardex report.

    BaT Description

    This 1965 Porsche 911 (chassis 300718) is an early-production SWB coupe that was built on April 9, 1965 and sold new to Pacific Northwest drag racing champion John Schmauder of McMinnville, Oregon. Finished from the factory in Signal Red over black leatherette, the car retains its original 2.0L flat-six, which is paired with a Type 902 five-speed transaxle. The current owner reportedly purchased this 911 from a longtime friend of Mr. Schmauder’s six months ago and has since added just a few hundred miles. A recent $9k service by Aker’s Porsche of Seattle included carburetor and fuel system refurbishment, a valve adjustment, new valve cover gaskets, a brake service, new ignition components, a shift linkage rebuild, and more as outlined below. This early 911 is now offered on behalf of the current owner with service records, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, a copy of the Kardex, and a clean Oregon title describing the car as a 1966.

    The car was originally finished in Signal Red (6407) per the Kardex, Porsche Production certificate, and door jamb tag, though the seller notes that the current shade is slightly darker than the factory color. Hella sealed-beam headlight housings are equipped with Marchal Equilux 7″ headlamps. Early “four-screw” horn grilles are present along with a Hirschmann “blue-tip” antenna, and other features include chrome bumperettes, an orange-bar front crest, and Hella front fog lights.

    Chrome 15×4.5″ Lemerz steel wheels are stamped with early 1965 date codes and wear 185/65 Michelin radials, which were manufactured in 2014. Early chrome window trim and thin door handles are fitted. Photos of the Sekurit glass markings are shown in the gallery below, as are imperfections in the finish, which are highlighted by pieces of masking tape. A brake service was performed in April 2019, and the seller notes that the ball joints, shocks, and suspension bushings should be replaced.

    The right-front fender and rear decklid are replacement units, though the original damaged decklid is included. The car retains an aluminum engine grille that was specific to the 1964 and early 1965 911, which is thicker than later versions and sits approximately 1/4″ higher than the surface of the lid. The car wears no side mirrors, and both doors have reportedly not been drilled for them.

    The cabin features black leatherette upholstery on the seats, door panels, and dash top, along with dark grey German squareweave carpeting. Early features include a slim dashboard knee pad, exposed dash-top screws, and front seats with six pleats. Other equipment includes a Webasto gas heater, a Blaupunkt radio, wing windows, and three-speed electric windshield wipers.

    A factory wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a set of VDO green gauges, which include an 8k-rpm tachometer and a 150-mph speedometer. Other combination gauges show fuel and oil levels, as well as oil pressure and temperature. A factory clock is retained, and the five-digit odometer currently shows less than 6k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added by the seller.

    A full-sized spare wheel and tire are housed in the front trunk on top of a grey fuel tank. Early features include adjustable strut top mounts, a windshield washer bag that is housed inside the fender, a chassis tag located above the fuel tank, and dark grey squareweave carpeting.

    The 2.0-liter flat-six was factory rated at 130 horsepower when new and has been fitted with Weber IDA46 carburetors, which feature adaptors in order to retain the factory Solex air box. A Bursch exhaust system is fitted, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a 902/1 five-speed manual transaxle. The transmission stamping does not match the number listed on the Kardex, and the original Nadella half shafts have been replaced with later Loebro units.

    Stamping *900893* correlates to the number listed on the Kardex, indicating a matching-numbers engine. A service was completed in April 2019 by Aker’s of Seattle, Washington and included carburetor refurbishment, removing and cleaning the fuel tank, installing new valve covers, rebuilding the Bendix fuel pump, a valve adjustment, new oil and filters, a compression test, a distributor repair, new spark plugs and wires, a shift linkage adjustment, new shifter bushings, a new battery, and more. The compression test results can be seen on the invoice.

    A copy of the Kardex is included and lists original colors, options, and owner, along with the chassis, engine, and transmission serial numbers. The car is titled in Oregon as a 1966 model as was instructed by Porsche in a February 1965 memo.

    The car offered here occupies a fascinating place in 911 history. The chassis number of 303828 indicates a February 1966 build date but intriguingly the car was not delivered to UK dealers AFN until December 1966 by which time it appears it had been rebranded to Deluxe specification. Finally road registered on 16 January 1967 there is the possibility that it was the first Deluxe 911 into the UK and used by AFN as a press car although it has not been possible to verify this.

    The car benefits from a painstaking restoration which was completed by Heritage Motorwerks in 2015, with great attention being paid to ensuring correct detailing such as the dashboard with its distinctive wooden insert and seats of the correct age. Under the bonnet the correct air cleaner and wiring harness were sourced, and the Weber carburettors set up correctly. One departure from original specification has been the ride height which was lowered to give the car a more sporting stance, and finally the car was refinished in its attractive Aga Blue paintwork and black interior. Recently £6,000 of work was carried out by marque specialists Tuthill Porsche getting the car into its current very presentable state.

    It is now described as being in good condition overall, with the engine tuned and running well. The history and restoration of 303828 were comprehensively detailed in Classic Porsche magazine for May 2015, and restoration bills and a UK V5C accompany the car.
