This is a great thread Raj......brings back memories of the second car I owned an orange '71 240Z that had a 5-speed. I always had a soft spot for the JDM model.....very cool.

Raj,
That is a Datsun Silvia (no... I didn't cheat). I have seen one of these, and in that color. Think I saw it at Carlisle Import and kit car show held every May. Don't know why it's famous, however. What's the story?

Silvias are rare, just 544 were produced and as Japanese collectibles go, up there with the Cosmo in significance. Based on the 1600 roadster chassis, designed in-house by Kazuo Kimura with minor input from Albrecht Goertz who was a consultant for Nissan at the time. The prototype was built by Yamaha, with the R16 OHV engine and full-synchro 4-speed transmission used in the roadsters. A very nice example in a striking blue was offered in SoCal a couple of years ago... typical prices are anywhere from $30-50K. The founder of NICO (Nissan Infinity Car Owners) owns perhaps the best one on the planet and they are striking... better proportions than it's contemporary Lancia Fulvia though there are similarities. FWIW, the Silvia was shown before the Fulvia was announced.
EDIT: Raj, great pics... have you seen one of these in the flesh?

Google "Super Samuri" (spelling is Correct) - in-period tuner 240Z, made about 74 of them.

I think this is BIG SAM, it is still in existence and was later raced in GB with team leader Bob Gathercole

I think it was sold some years ago for reasonable £
