Thread: Pictures of Saratoga Porsche Exhibit

  1. #11
Anyone know how long the 910 will be there? I was at the Nurburgring in 1967 and saw Joe race this car. I have many pictures of this car during the race and I would thoroughly enjoy seeing it once again.

    Same 959 at RRIV ?

Wish I could have gone to RRIV.
Is this the same 959 that was at RRIV?

Since I'm not a fan of football, I decided to take a drive over to check out the museum over the Superbowl weekend. The link to the photos is:

A couple of updates: 1) The GT1 was not there, despite what the museum's website says. I asked one of the museum volunteers about it, he had no idea about it and 2) the exhibit should be there until early May '12. I'm not a photographer and I have an older, crappy camera - but, you'll get the picture.
About an earlier question regarding the 959, it was from MA, picture below

Hmmm, that's odd. My son and I drove up the weekend before last and the LeMans winning GT1, and the 7th place finishing 961 on loan from the Porsche Museum were both still on display. They told us that the exhibit was extended until the end of May, and that the factory museum cars would be displayed until then. The 918 that was there at the opening, went on to RRIV and Abu Dhabi before being flown back to the factory. Maybe the original end of January date was based on when the factory cars had to be returned?

The exhibit was very well done and had some interesting and historic cars I thought.

Very nice collection of significant Porsches! Any one know of a more significant display in the US?

    Hi Jim,
Yes, I was very disappointed that the cars were missing. I knew the 918 was a short term loan but I expected to see the LeMans cars. Oh well. In some of the photos you can see in the background an empty spot where a car should have been. Actually, I was staring at the oil stains on the empty floor when the museum staff came over to talk to me.... Still, I was happy to be able to actually check out the details of cars that I had been dreaming of since before I could drive.
