Finally! Heading to the workshop that I trust the most here in my country. Had to wait for it for several years. They are extremely busy and "picky". It seems my car deserved their attention...
As you could see engine is ready. Tranny will be disassembled for a check and eventual repair. One of the hardest jobs is to remove the 3 layers of paint, for a bare metal restoration. The ugly white made by a workshop some 15-20 years ago, supposedly in Florida where the car came from in 2003. Then the metallic grey (Ascot Grey Metallic/BMW painted by RUF) and last but not least the original metallic blue if there are some remains of it under gray. I plan the car to get ready with within a 1-1.5 year time. As previously said, upholstery works to its Ruf spec Cartier red full leather interior will be carried out by RUF again, in Pfaffenhausen. (Agreed with Mr. Alois Ruf in person back in 2014 when personally at his place.)
I catch the opportunity to wish TO ALL OF YOU being present on this Great Forum A MERRY CHRISTMAS!Name: Ruf going to Mashmotors 2_2017 December.jpg

Paint removal in progress. Its body is incredibly healthy. Only the 2 front fenders need to be replaced by new ones, nothing else. In the last pic, in the headlight bucket are clearly seen all three layers of its colors: original metallic blue, then RUF-ascotgrey metallic (that one is seen better at back side of dash) and the white on top of it.Name: RUF lakatos1.jpg

It doesn't appear that he added any reinforcement during the conversion.

No, he did not. It's been a targa like yours. Why should it have any additional reinforcement? Neither the targa top nor the convertible one gives any additional strenghtening to body. It is good as is made by Porsche.

Surprising, that no added enforcement, considering the removal of the roll bar.??? Maybe they added support in the rockers or even the floor?
