George, definitely don't change this car. If it had been tastelessly converted from it's original factory configuration, then one could be justified in returning it to it how it left the factory. But given it's provenance - a genuine Ruf conversion - converted by such an esteemed artisan as Alois Ruf - I believe it would be a mistake not to preserve it as is. In this modern era, most Porsche enthusiasts would consider Ruf to be second only to the Porsche Factory's own Werks II and their Special Wishes program. Now if Porsche themselves had completed the conversion, the question "should I return it to original" would not even be asked.
As has been mentioned, if you truly have no place for a Convertible in your garage or your heart - sell it to someone who does. By the sound of your last post - perhaps you are warming to it now.
Only my opinion, and there is no personal judgement intended. Good luck with your decision - I wish I that burden!!!!

I love all of the cabriolets. They are interesting in that they are sporting machines, but seem a little less frenetic...maybe it's just me.

A 356 coupe does not have the same feel as a speedter or cabriolet. I once drove a 930 Cab, and it was a stunning experience. I would not hesitate to own one, and this Ruf conversion sounds very interesting. I would drive it, show it, and love it!

Sounds like a find. With the documentation to go with the car there is no question it should be kept as Ruf built it. A 1 of 1.
If you do not want to own it I bet you can find a new caretaker for it. And would also love to see photos.

I remember seeing this 911 on the showroom floor of a Jupiter Fl. classic car dealer in the early 1990's. I can forward the name of the previous owner if you feel that would help. Do you know if your car came from the US?

Yes, Marvin, it came from Miami in May of 2003. An aquainted guy, totally stranger to classic Porsches bought it by chance while enjoying his stay in Florida, finding it in local AutoTrader...imported, then parked it for 8+years in his garage (fortunately!) doing nothing to it...lost even its title & RUF-docs for a couple of years...
