. . . Saw this one yesterday, it's the second one I've seen, first time I had a camera with me. Seven character CA black plate?? On this car?? I didn't think the former existed and if it did you couldn't put it on the latter . . .

Has current reg tags, so . . . 7-character personal plate, painted-up like a 'black' plate?

I don't know. I don't think the CHP would like that much, non-reflective paint.

1970 California Blue Plate that is transferable. Taking bids between $10,000 and $12,000.

Another 'out-of-the-way' kinda plate . . .

Green letters on a white back-round, non-reflective. Notice the little dot of gold in the prospector's pan? . . . never seen the same shape twice. Hand-painted, maybe?

Anyway, last year for the 'Land of the Midnight Sun' slogan

White on pale med blue-grey.

Love this shape --- 1970 is the 1st year . . . and kinda 'creative,' considering where it was made to be used. Just about the lightest + most delicate + flimsiest plate I've ever had . . . feels like heavy-duty Reynolds Wrap in my hands.

When I think about where this plate has been . . . amazing that it came through in this --- or any --- condition.

Zero chance of finding + fitting any kinda frame 'round this. Unless I make one.

Great find here....I have a matched set of 2 from the year 1973, bought off a collector , local- Garage sale , about 10 years ago. Came in the o.e. yellow manila envelope from the Northwest Territories govt.

New and in perfect condition.......I love them and they are a cool part of my small collection.

Also picked up a useable, but a little worn 1957 Armed Services in Germany single plate.

Looking for the the appropriate Porsche now to go with it. : - )

Plates aren't something I collect per se . . . more accessories for the frames I do. But still --- some of them are fascinating

Like this DE . . . a regular passenger-issue, dating up to ~1970. Blue back-round, gold-orange letters --- so what, right?

. . . 'Cept these letters are separately stamped + cut then? . . . . individually fitted + riveted to the base-plate
