Very cool. I had no idea there were any US delivery RS cars. Considering the uniqueness it sounds like a bargain at $275K. If auctioned would likely go for more.

That is a very, very nice original car. It looks like someone added the decals though as the rear carrera logo is out of place and all the decals should either be red or black. I love the hand painted insignia on the hubcap, it goes well with the wheels. If I win the lottery I'll be sending you a check.

I am guessing that the rear speakers were possibly option code 256. Since the Mexico unit is stereo, it would not make sense to use only the mono speaker in the front. For the price of the Mexico, they would certainly have wanted to utilize it to its capacity. Interesting to see where this discussion leads.

stuntmanmike ,
If you could , would you mind posting photos of the grill area (from top) and underside (drivers side specifically) of the Ducktail to your gallery (or here) sometime possibly.
Seemingly , this car has it's original tail. I'd just like to see a couple details. I'm interested in late 1973 MY Ducktail production. I know they could vary per unit (as they were produced at various locals) , but i'm always interested in viewing a 73 MY tail which I believe was produced late in the model year.
Thx , if you can help.

Still looking for 1st Edition Carrera RS book #358.
Life is way too short to drive boring cars.
Seller said he bought from an Audi dealer, which may explain why the car was never registered before my friend did so.
Brian - Thanks for your help and insight yesterday!
Peekaboo - yes, I'll get those pics up for you.
My RS (1018) had the full Becker-Mexico stereo with tape player option (I believe it cost 1465DM in '73) and there weren't any rear speakers installed as part of the package, although I don't know if it were possible to order them as a separate option.

Would it be possible for someone to photograph where the amplifier is mounted in an early car. I have installed the Mexico as well and I would like to mount the amp in the correct location.
Assuming a 3:1 conversion on the DM to $, that puts the cost of these somewhere under $500. I know it was a lot of money in the day, but I thought it was much more expensive than that.

Very nice car! Minutia: Note the tool bag, which appears to have mostly correct (the spark plug wrench looks wrong and the two-pronged alternator wrench is missing), is a correct snap (circa '73 1/2 911s) not the oft-quoted, and also correct, tie-version. Also note the Hapewe pliers and probably Selected Steel or Selected Special Steel open end wrenches. Thanks.
