    thanks Frank,

I have wanted a 914-6 since I read the local press release on 10 September 1969.
Two years + ago I bought one from Texas on this very board and I have not been disappointed.
I have a very good example and I have spent quite a bit on back maintenance and the car is now an excellent driver.
Sadly over the years there has been too much tripe written about these cars in the media and the uninformed have perpetuated these idiotic myths.
All the problems occurred at VW after Nordhoff died and Ferry lost his sponsor for this project.
There was nothing wrong with the 914-6 that couldn't be corrected by evolution.
If you take the standard -6 as intended - a pleasant two seater light roadster with good road manners - then Porsche's concept was a success !
Rant over - pics to follow !

    Cheers
    Dennis.
1970 914-6 - materialised from the 'Lotto' garage into reality
    1971 2.2 911 S - now back in the UK - sob!
1975 Carrera Targa (ROW) - missed.
One of us is fast becoming a valuable antique.

Here is my recent purchase. It was restored about 15 years ago from a shell and with all new parts. It still has the type 4 engine although it has 911SC struts and brakes, re-inforced chassis etc etc and was built to suit a 6cyl engine. I will be putting a 911 engine in and GT flares, keeping the 6in fuchs on the front and running Minilites on the rear. Next step is to vinyl the sail panel and paint the roof black. It's a great little car and will be a nice project. Edit. It is RHD too

914rubber has excellent sail panel vinyl kit that comes trimmed to size but be sure to get the German vinyl kit. Also there is a vendor over on 914world "McMark" who does the best back to original targa roof refinish, see post #16: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.p...pic=298337&hl=

Yours would be easy since it is smooth to start with.

We recently finished this fun little project.

It was Sepia, then white, now Ravenna Green. Has a warmed over 2.0L with carburetors, close ratio gears, and a nicely setup suspension. The guy uses the car in his daily driver rotation (which also includes a 997.1 GT3 and a 59 Outlaw coupe).

RHD....that took some doing. Considering that I don't think a single car came from the factory in that configuration.
