There were privately owned exclusive distributors, authorized by Volkswagen of America, like Porsche NorthWest to distribute Porsche automobiles.

Porsche NorthWest was owned by the Qvale brothers, Knute and Kjell. They were the original Volkswagen distributors for the NW United States (Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho and Alaska). Originally it was far more cost effective to have regional distribution and franchise management through these distributors. Riviera Motors was the parent company for 23 subsidiary businesses including dock services, distribution, parts etc for Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen and Subaru.

When Porsche AG ended the distribution agreement in 1984 with Volkswagen of American to distribute Porsches in the United States , I left Rivera Motors and went to work for PCNA (Porsche Cars North America) then located in Reno.

I have all the official US dealer/importer adress pamplet offered to Porsche clients, from 1966 on until 1973.
About a dozens were published, sometimes twice a year. I also have some Canadian ones, although they were usually listed within US lists.

I scanned some but its an awful work to do it in overall, but anybody who wants some infos pm me.

Did they all go through Porsche Cars North America for US dealers or was there other paths in 68-69?

What was the Canadian importing pathway?

Were there only certain ports that handled Porsche cars?

Has anyone profiled this information for this time period?

Thank you for sharing the initial post
