Case you wondered what this album was, (I did):
Wally Gonzalez - Wally On The Road
2nd and maybe last album by the most famous and heaviest guitarrist from the Phillipines of the 70's. All good guitar driven hardrock with amazing guitar leads. Most of the tracks are full of 70's hardrock, with 1-2 more bluesy tracks. Exotica !!

Bleecker Bob's, Yale?
Good to see you at Treffen. Hope you get a chance to come again!
Reissue vinyl is a bit hit and miss these days. I contribute reviews to this fellow New Yorker's website regularly: http://musicangle.com

excellent stuff! as a Vinylphile (if thats the correct term), that you for sharing that site Randy!
I have quite a collection of blues, bebop jazz, classic rock, and my favorite, psycadellic..
i the reason i picked this one up was obviously two fold:
Harry Hoffman
1968 912 #3656, burgundy red 'Fritz'. Some mods..

Wow, Harry, I never heard Mingus made that album. Will have to look it up.

Reza, find an original if you can. The reissue is on Get Back - an Italian company that cuts inferior pressings.
Harry, there are a few audio dudes in the early 911 community - Rich O'Neil sets up Continuum turntables for a living.

yup, mine is a get back pressing. I do not listen to Mingus enough to warrant finding the original. my psycadellic stuff, most of it is original (though i do need to find an original pressing of 13th floor elevators one of these days).

Damn Reza, very cool! I have quite a few Indoneasiian albums and have produced a few but not really into the Asian prog scene, neat to see someone here is though. Kinda expected a lot of interest in the Eagles instead, hah.
Hey Randy I'd love to get back to Treffen. I did feel so bad getting stone chips all over Curt's car on the way back from California, gotta do that drive out there again though, maybe in '13. As for Bleecker Bob's, well for the most part the indi culture of NYC has moved to Brooklyn and though Bob's is still there there is word that it will close. That cantankerous ill mannered Bob himself is not doing so well as he is in a wheel chair. I took this picture at a place called Academy which is on North 6th in Williamsburg, which is sort of what Bleecker St was in the '60's and St Marks in the 70's.
Is there an 'original' of that Mingus album? It seems like a recording of a live show or shows recorded in Stuttgart, sort of a live boot. The Italian copyright situation is interesting as it seems a lot of things can come out there that would be illegal in other countries.

Unique Jazz UJ007-8 and 9 were the original '64 releases for the Mingus (Live) in Stutggart recordings. The label was part of RKO in NY. It could be that the Get Back reissue sounds just as good or better than the originals (I don't have either). Unfortunately, most of the Get Back reissues do not sound as good (where applicable).
For example, some of the Tom Waits Get Back reissues were never available on vinyl - Early Years Vol 2 is really good (if not demo) stuff on CD or LP. Unfortunately, like the Earmark vinyl reissues, Get Back releases are mastered and pressed by GZ Vinyl in the Czech Republic using a digital delay for all analog transfers and/or mastered from standard redbook CD files. I can tell you The Kinks mono Earmark LPs sound terrible. Other GZ vinyl sounds great - one example is the Rolling Stones '64-69 box, but those are ABKO titles cut from the recent super high res DSD master digital files used to produce the fine sounding SACDs.
Like I mentioned earlier, reissue vinyl is a bit hit and miss these days. When in doubt, try to track down original pressings from the country of origin (where the album was mastered). But it's getting tougher to find those all analog LPs in great condition. Hence the reissues. They are certainly a much easier alternative - sometimes they are great and sometimes they are not. Kinda like early 911 repro parts...
