Speaking of confrontation, except that I couldn't think of anything to do that wasn't just as bad form..........Nothing to do with anyone here, that I know of, but I had a guy, I really wish he was in one of the pictures, who overheard me offering on something I dug out and had in hand, before the seller had a chance to say anything he stepped in and offered more. I didn't even see him before that, I thought he was kidding, he wasn't. Maybe it's just me, but I've never heard of anyone doing that. I was so shocked and mad I didn't even know what to say. I watched a plastic RS gas tank go for $300 there two years ago, I was on deck but didn't say a word, I thought that's how it goes.

I saw the exact same thing. It was a guy from a collectors company/group. The older fellow standing next to me was negotiating with the seller on a part and this guy walks up and says "I will give you $300". The older fellow handled it better than I would, he just set the part down and walked away.

The way to deal with somebody like that is to counter offer considerably more. Then let the guy bid it up. Then when he walks away get back to the original price at hand. If not at least you can make him pay a lot more.

It's also pretty slimey for a vendor to allow this. If you want an auction then have an auction. Otherwise you sell it for what you're asking.

Could have been "collusion". A walking-talking shill bidder friend of the seller.
