Congrats, I only wish you were closer to the right coast. Stay small, you will have more fun and likely earn more dough. Good luck.

    Freddie:

Congratulations on your growing business. I really liked the paint work that you did on Rich's 67S, and the Lime Green Carrera is wonderful. I especially like your logo...showing the unique 72 oil door...my favorite MY long hood 911. Best of luck in a successful business future.

Gib, thanks for the motivation. The logo idea came from a picture that I had seen several years back. The logo contained what appeared to be a Porsche with SpeedArt running down the inside of the car. I thought wow how clever! some day if I have a Porsche business, I would like to use a silhouette of a Porsche that would look similar to the SpeedArt logo. So, I started looking at photos that I had taken of my past restorations. It was Steve Lawrence's 1972 911S that caught my eye. Since I have always had a liking to 72's due to the unique oil door I thought I would use Steve's car for the silhouette. I manipulated the photo by cutting away areas of the car I did not want to show on my logo. It took quite a bit of cropping to finally fit my business name inside of the car. I picked the color Tangerine because it's the color that I most love to work with on Porsches. My wife and I brainstormed through many different types of names. I would wake up in the middle of the night and whisper hey, I got it, let's use this name? She would shoot it down and we started all over again. Finally of a list of 10 different names, we picked Vintage Sportscar Restorations. The name was unique...VSR. So that's how it all came together Gib.

Cool logo story. I think it's neat to hear about stuff like this. We tend to take logos for granted without realizing how much thought really goes into it. Nice to hear it came from your self and not some outside logo arts company.

PS - Freddie - after we talked a few weeks ago, I thought long and hard about what you said that it was time for me to put my own stamp on the car. So in the end I took your advice and I am now knee deep into restoring the wood dash on 302596. The rally/autocross plaques came off with no damage to the wood except for a darker wood shade under the plaques. I'm glad I did - I really like the way it's shaping up.
