If you’re stateside the Beck 904 is your only option. Overall they are pretty reasonable. A few guys on here have, or are in process of getting, one. M&W’s are VERY nice but only avail for racing in the US. Great article in this months issue of Pano on the 904.

There is another option, but believe you me, it is a hard road!

    .
It's good to see that my old build thread is still creating a bit of interest ...

Just a minor update - the car is still keeping company with an original 904 (the ex-Dickie Stoop car registered 'YOU 4') & is being used for pactice sessions/ honing the owner's racing skills (rather than unnecessarily risking his vastly more valuable original).

Here are a few pictures of it from a recent feature about Maxted-Page on Classic Driver:

That's what Chuck Beck said when I told him I was using a 914. He said he looked into it, it wouldn't work, the shock towers are too high. I said I was lowering the shock towers, he said I was crazy, maybe I am...but I'll be crazy in a cool car!

    NO doubt about that!

Andy set the bar VERY high here. Honestly, I think I’d have more fun in a “replica” (I use that term in loosely to Andy’s) than a real 904. I probably can say that because I can’t afford a real one!

I like to think on some level I'm channeling Ferry when he said,

"I looked around and could not find quite the car I dreamed of, so I decided to build it myself."

The only difference is I can't afford a 904, same with my aluminum 550 build, can't afford a 550 either, but I can build them.
