Great job and it's been fun to watch the evolution but anyone who posts projects in process should never be surprised that watchers critique things; especially when you formally invite it.

Frankly I would think you would be appreciative of the advice rather than offended or take comments personally. This ain't Facebook.

Actually was directed at a couple of PMs, not Frank or Ed. That's why I didn't quote anyone in the reply. Some things get lost in inter web translation.

It has been fun playing the game with "spot what's missing or wrong" with people in the know for sure. That's how we learn. Some things I think are obvious I suppose. Like a clamp missing, which really depends on what time of the day a picture was taken. And tongue in cheek is appreciated. I'm far more cynical and sharp tongued than Frank I'd wager! I just don't like people who make personal nonconstructive critiques via PM.

I will certainly welcome comments when it's all done too. Given that every nut and bolt and hose has been compared to original cars in Robert's collection, I doubt we'll see anything wrong, but I'm sure they'll be plenty of (fun) debate. I'm forever grateful to the people on this board who have helped me along in public and in private. This is going to be one very, very special car.

I just found this thread and it is a great thread. It is interesting and though, and you do reference it more than once, how the seller and you also I guess, first describe the car prior to purchase and what the cars condition really was. The car now looks absolutely gorgeous, however there were 2 things that I notice and others can chime in, the red engine shroud doesn't appear to be correct, and the horns I believe should be red banjo

Yes, Ed was referring to the engine lid-license panel seal which has the two cutouts for the lights I believe. Part number 90151290100. NLA but Stoddard makes a repro that Robert wasn't happy with (SIC-512-901-00), so we got a NOS one from Europe. On its way.

The difference? The NLA one says Germany in the corner. The Stoddard one does not. Also the bit that tucks into the panel is thicker on the Stoddard one and so the metal lip (between the gasket and the engine cover seal in your picture) tilts a bit up. You can see that in your photo. Water should drain out from the body, not into the rear inner/outer license panel.

The arrow points to the lip I'm talking about. From an RS in the shop, 9113600250. The Stoddard part tilts it up a bit too far.

The engine shroud looks exactly like my unrestored one on my 73S. The latch panel not so much. Beautiful car.
