912 3-gauge in Sky Blue on eBay.

Lovely looking SWB in this colour.

Question: is the trim coloured dash and upper door pads a 912 quirk ? I dont think I've seen a trim coloured dash before; but this could be a 3-gauge 912 only thing? It doesnt appear to have a speaker or mounts.......

Good luck to the seller, I am just curious about the early iterations of the SWB's.

I believe that all dashs, door caps and rear window trim would have been black. I think the only interior colors available were Red, Black, Brown and Biege. I think the way this car is trimmed takes some of the harsh, tuetonic crispness and makes it softer and more run together. Looks great, but I'd prefer a "correct" interior apperance along with a set of 4.5 inch wheels in place of the 5.5s.

Not sure if there is confusion with the painted dash cars and dash board color. This car is a correct early painted dash car. These were the earliest of the 912's and the 3 gauge dash was painted body color. The painted dash cars had a unique knee pad also. The other question is regarding the color of the dash board and door trim. I have seen what I think were original early cars that had trim and dash matching the rest of the interior (one red and a white one) so I think it was possible to get a non-black dash and door trim pieces.

I am not speaking of the color of the paint, but the upholstry. It should be black on the dash top, door caps and rear window bases. The dash paint could be correct, but counterfits exsist. I also believe that gray was not an option, but looks good here.

You're right Jeff, and an early VIN would confirm that. The dash and upholstery details are clearly not as original, but restomod touches. Body color dash is correct... what he's done with the rest of the interior, the dashcap/knee bolster matching the rest of the leather is a personal choice, but done very well. I doubt that grey leather was ever factory installed, but it's so nice it probably won't negatively affect the sales price.
