caught in traffic....no problem, swim around it !!

When visiting EASY, ( yesterday, on the occasion of 356 Saturday - held on the 3rd Saturday of each month ) one should really visit Fantasy Junction to get an update on the latest delectables on display. It's but a 2-block stroll, and lets you get away from obnoxious owners of ratty old Porsches droning on about how great they & their cars are.

As always, there was a riveting mix of exotics, comforting vintage iron, real world drivers one could actually take home with barely a financial stretch............ and the totally unexpected.

In the latter category, I found this very unusual and unique car stashed in a corner: the one-off 2010 SEA LION all aluminum and stainless steel world-record amphibious competition vehicle built locally by Marc Witt, ( in Berkeley, of course, where else ). There's a link provided applied.design@yahoo.com - but it proved completely devoid of useful information. There is some additional information however to be found in the fantasyjunction.com website, including a video.

The" car " is powered by a modified, Weber-equipped Mazda rotary motor, with excellent workmanship and some decidedly premium components.

Note: a couple of the shots are shots from the book which accompanies the car, which, incidentally, is for sale at US$ 260.000.

I bet the jet drive is a variant of an old Berkeley Pump (was very near Fantasy Junction):

    http://www.berkeleyjet.com/

Berkeley Pump (in Berkeley, CA) was a conglomerate of Italian immigrants that also brought you the Jacuzzi (the Jacuzzi brother were a great and interesting bunch). I used to work for an Italian deli whose owner was great friends with this group and they were members of the Berkeley Lions (and they all met regularly at Spengers). I used to deliver various catering events to them all long ago. Miss those days...
