    Kardex Dates

Rather than take Mike's thread regarding production v delivery dates off track, can I just ask for any help with regard to the dates on my Kardex.

On the Kardex for my '68 TR it has the following:

"Ausgel.am 4.7.68, Abnahme-Besch 11.7.68" (I may have the spelling of the final word incorrect?) Translating this I am not sure of the first date but the second seems to be "acceptance", just don't know by who "Quality Control"? "Racing Dept"? "Dealer" (Handler on Kardex)?, "Customer"? .....the car was delivered new to Kenya so I am thinking that these dates are more likely to be dates at the factory given that they are only a week apart?

These are the only dates on the Kardex other than 6-68 right at the bottom as part of the Kardex reference number.

Tim, you are correct on the English translations according to the Kardex translation by Dr. Brett Johnson, for both the 356 and early 911's.

    ausgel. am : Delivery date
Abnahme-Besch: date that the customer/dealer received it

Important to Porsche because they mark dates for transfer of ownership for invoice and payments. Also warranty work.

I'm sure this has been linked to before, but this is a great help deciphering the Kardex:

"Abnahme-Besch" means "Abnahme Bescheinigung" means "certificate of carrying out".

It does not change the infos given above but this is the right meaning of this technical abbreviation.

BTW the 356 registry link writes: "ausgel.am: completion date."
"ausgel.am" means "ausgeliefert am..." means "out-delivered on..." and might means "delivered out by the factory".

    Thanks Karim

So just to clarify with regard to my two dates, are we saying:

4.7.68 - Delivered to dealer (handler)
    11.7.68 - Delivered to customer
