    Year: 1970 US
    Issue code:
In 1970 and 1971, Porsche US created one of the most beautiful Porsche literature items ever published. The 1970 Accessories folder is famous of being exceptionally well designed and its graphic design is simply stunning.
Its cover uses a tinfoil like paper where a red 911 silhouette of a 911 is printed over. The inside is a restrained design with text and b/w pics, describing most available accessories. An interior double-page showing again a photo of a 911 and echoes therefore the cover design concept. Its is interesting to note that while the factory's RoW accesories folder continued to be printed in smaller, modest and mostly text-only brochures, the US importer moved ahead and offered prospective US customers a full pictured brochure. Which certainly helped business as well as general interest for accessories of this cars.

This 1971 item is another example how well designed the US importer his accessories brochure: While the 1970 item was still a perfect example of modernistic 1960ies graphic design, pure, restrained and functional, the 1971 item was looking ahead and incorporates 1970ies style with trendy looking full-color photo illustrations and joyful examples how accessories can be used or in which life-style context they looked cool.
Important to note that throughout the whole brochure there are only 2.2l car models as well as 2.2l interiors pictured. The brochure does not show 2.4l cars and neither indicates any front spoilers for the 911S, a detail with MY 1972 cars. Also, the general graphic typo is similar to the 1971 upholstery dealer item and uses small icons to describes the different car models.

This leads the author to the conclusion, its definitly a 1971 item.
Among the early 911 community there is a commen sense that this should be a 1972 item: it is not.

Often, Porsche re-used often older pictures and updated them for their newer literature but they never missed to update pictured cars with graphic corrections to look like actual MY models. Related literature by an otherwise excellent book written by Miller in the early 1980ies is wrong: this item is printed for MY 1971 cars. It was likely used for 1972 too since most accessories remained similar and only a small aftermarket brochure "Accessories for your Porsche" was printed, this time specificially for 1972 models.

    Year: 1972 US
    Issue code:
In 1972, the US importer published a small brochure, quite similar to the RoW pricelists, color sampler and air-con folders. )Some state its a aftermarket item: Its the only item presented the author does not own himself). In it there are few photosbut a text refers to codes and available accesories. In combination with the 2.4l catalogue (which in quality, size and images was simply the most luxurious brochure ever produced between 1964 and 1973) this small literature item was making sense for informing clients well.
Also, some "white" 1972 US/RoW 2.4l catalogues got - along with the technical folder - equipped with a typewritted pricelist including accessories codes.

    Year: 1973 US/Canada
    Issue code:
1973 was a transitional period and most likely 1972 literature items got re-used again. The ""white" 2.4 catalogue recieved some updates and a new small booklet was published for the US/Canada market. It listed all available models and some accesories as well as some of their prices. Again some "white" 1973 US/RoW 2.4l catalogues got - along with the technical folder - equipped with a typewritted pricelist with accessories codes.
