    Flexable Heater Tube in Sill

Just curious would the original wool inside the heated silencer tube from a 1970 911 be asbestos?
    Thanks

i hope not since i butchered several of those when cutting shells in half..my guess would be that it is rockwool....parts catalog sometimes mentions when something is asbestos..like the gas heater insulation mat in the smugglers box..but you never know

I know my 69 has the insulation with asbestos that's why I'm asking about my original 70 heater tubes, it looks like wool but so does asbestos. Rockwool if I'm not mistaken is darker that pure white wool, it's more of grayish color.
Where these tubes made just to reduce noise or was there other reasons for them?
