    STC: Aluminum doors, trunk lids?

    Awhile back, a pair of NOS aluminum doors were offered in the classifieds... for $20K IIRC. Tonight I peeked at Shin Yoshikawas site;
    I hadn't in a while, but as a long time fan I enjoy seeing what he's been doing even if updates are sporadic. Surprise: he's apparently making 911 doors and lids in aluminum! He lists the project on his home page... but no info, pics, nothing. Does anyone here know Shin, or when/if these will be available? He dropped the alloy 240Z project a couple of years ago due to lack of the 5 orders needed, but surely he'd sell a pile of aluminum 911 parts!

    Anyway, email sent. Will report back ASAP.

    If anyone is interested in having Steve Hogue make the following 911 parts in aluminum, he said he can do it:

    Lids
    Fenders
    Door skins

    The guy is very talented, and he's in Claifornia. STEVEHOGUEENTERPRISES@YAHOO.COM

    Good to know, Randy. I just got off the phone with Shin who says that since he's retiring and the inner frame of the door is so complicated, he won't be making them after all. Maybe skins... but I did try to convince him that hoods and engine lids are simpler.
    An amazing artist both with pen and ink, and in metal. Terrific fabricator, sorry there won't be any Porsche items to come.
    But he's 65 and deserves to relax a little, after working so hard for so long. At least we can still get a few of his drawings.

    Hi,

    With some good friends we have just finished making full ally doors. We will have them at the UK classics at the castle show along with ally frame RS engine lid, ally door skins. Plus we will soon have ally bonnets and standard engine lids. I will grab some pics later.

    Thanks

    Alan

    The SC/RS had full alloy doors, and they were still available recently - seems like they were about 3k per side. I don't remember whether it had alloy trunk lid, or if that came along on the 964 cup/RS type cars.

    A long hood aluminum hood will be all the rave. I might just have to get one painted signal yellow.

    I've got the alu trunk lid off an SC/RS on my 964. I used the same one on my 81.
