Thanks Tony. I still have to finish the oil lines. I mocked them up with the kidney bowl and the sill screwed in. Everything fits up nicely. I am pretty much ready to mount them up properly tomorrow, in preparation for the outer sill weld up. It pretty exciting. the rear quarter, door and front guard all look great.

    Very excited!

    Panel Gaps

Yesterday I secured the oil lines behind the sills and welded the modified kidney bowls to take the lines. Its one of those jobs that takes a long time as I checked against the sill and the fender joining panel about 20 times. Once the kidney bowl was on, it gave me the chance to offer the rear qtr panel up and fit the front guard to get the fender joining panel in the correct position.

This has been the most satisfying process yet. The panel gaps are sensational, with only a slight raised area at the top of the fender against the door. I think this can be improved once everything it welded up and I can put some real pressure on the guard. The sill gap has come up really well. It needs a little more relief around the jack point and it can be welded up.

Next up, seam seal under the outer sill and weld the outer sill and fender joining panel in place.

    Holy Cowl!

Today was the last step of removing the poor lhd to rhd botch job on the S. I have been planning this in my mind for months and today, and having other 70 shell available has given me plenty of options for the repair patch.

I braced the front strut area and welded in some support. Then I cut!! The whole cpwl and remains of the dash were removed in one piece. I have unpiched the cowl and the top piece of the dash as one piece to go back in. Removing this has given me amazing access to the rust, and the ability to patch the really rotten areas on the LHS.

With the access I could get to the areas that were poorly welded and cut out more than I would have otherwise.

I had previously cut out and prepped the inner fender piece I needed. Once san blasted E-primed and weld through primed, I could offer it up using the bonnet hinge to locate it properly. The result is so much better than the RHS repair I did earlier. I am going to go back and fix that one a little bit now!

I then spent about two hours cutting the panel that runs from the wheel well through to the dash. This is the panel that was completely eaten away. It also attaches the inner fender and the firewall, so its pretty fricken important. This came out of the SC front cut I had. It was a bugger to get out , but being so vital it was worth the effort. Once I cleaned it up, It fitted in nicely.
