    Another FIAT cab . . . all done up --- nice-n-shiny

Compare the door + side-trim 'fit' to the nasty car, above

    (Why I shy away from 'restored' . . .)

Peter Satori frame, though. Old School Dealer --- Pasadena, too? . . . multi-brand imports (MBz, RR, Jag, etc) + exotics (Delahaye) . . .

    Rusnak, today

    More Best of France & Italy . . .

    Lancia Montecarlo

One-word --- Chevy owned the other

    Really interesting/frustrating/ultimately disappointing cars

Their last car imported here before quitting the US, the Montecarlo aka Scorpion is one o' those classic 'coulda beens.' I think the Scorpion came first, mid-'70s . . . and was just trashed. Sub-compact small yet still under-powered, unreliable, and rust-prone, these cars were a joke --- especially for anyone familiar w/ Lancia's reputation for engineering. The Montecarlo came next --- somewhat tidied-up styling-wise, bigger motor/more power --- but only just . . . and still unreliable + rust-prone. Haven't seen one in decades

This one's been interestingly updated . . . stripped-down bodywork (bumpers, mostly) and Abarth-branded supercharger. Weirdo wheels. Interior looks stock --- except for genuine Abarth wheel . . . recovered (?)

Rare car . . . less than 2000 of these later-series were ever imported

Too bad about the Montecarlo, 'cause, after they got their a$$ kicked in/out of the US . . . Lancia developed this platform into a coupla racers . . .

    A turbo-charged 4-banger for FIA Group 5 . . .

. . . and a rally version called the Abarth 037 . . . the last rear-wheel drive car to win the WRC, driven by Markku Alén, Attilio Bettega, and Walter Röhrl, in '83 . . .
